Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer in the UAE to design and deliver geotechnical solutions for dredging and infra projects. You will perform site investigations, advise on foundations and ground improvement, and help develop new design tools while collaborating across teams.

Ideal candidates have 4–5 years of relevant experience, strong English skills, and willingness to travel within the Middle East. The role offers a competitive salary and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Have proven experience in the design and execution of ground improvement projects (e.g., vibro compaction, vibro replacement, dynamic compaction, surcharge, vertical drains).
• For the Medor Geotechnical Engineer position, preferably have at least 4–5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role.
• Experience with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, Deltares D-Series). Python, automation, and digital design tools are an advantage.
• Solid understanding of geotechnical site investigations, ground improvement design methodologies, and construction monitoring.
• Excellent English language skills; Arabic a plus.
• Available full-time and willing to travel regularly to project locations across the Middle East.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and interpret geotechnical site investigations and soil surveys.
• Prepare technical advice and design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, settlements, stability, and ground improvement.
• Contribute to development of new geotechnical design tools and methodologies.
• Provide geotechnical expertise to internal stakeholders across the organization.
• Apply advanced soil modelling techniques and automated design processes to deliver efficient solutions.

Van Oord is executing major dredging and ground improvement projects. For all these projects, Van Oord's geotechnical engineers provide technical input during both the tender and execution stages.

As a Geotechnical Engineer within our Dredging & Infra business unit, you will be involved in the design and engineering of Van Oord's projects across the UAE. We are looking for both experienced and early-career geotechnical engineers to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of these exciting projects.

With your analytical skills and attention to detail, you deliver high-quality geotechnical solutions and technical deliverables.

Job Requirements

• Have experience with geotechnical software, including PLAXIS and Deltares D-Series. Experience with Python, automation, and digital design tools is considered an advantage;
• Possess a solid understanding of geotechnical site investigations, ground improvement design methodologies, and construction monitoring;
• Have an excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage;
• Are available on a full-time basis and willing to travel regularly to project locations across the Middle East.
