Job summary

Sundus is seeking an accomplished General Counsel (UAEN) to lead the Group's Legal Affairs across its subsidiaries, providing strategic legal counsel to the executive team and Boards.

The role covers corporate and commercial matters, contracts, litigation, regulatory affairs, licensing, governance and risk management, and will oversee external legal relationships while developing a high-performing, compliant legal function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law required.
• Valid license or equivalent professional legal qualification.
• Extensive knowledge of commercial and corporate law.
• Strong understanding of regulatory, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Securities and capital markets regulations knowledge including SCA rules.

Job description

We are seeking an accomplished General Counsel (UAEN) to lead the Legal Affairs function across the Group and its subsidiaries.

The role will lead a broad legal portfolio covering corporate and commercial matters, contracts, litigation, regulatory affairs, investigations, licensing, compliance, corporate governance, and legal risk management. The General Counsel will also oversee external legal relationships, support strategic corporate initiatives, and lead the development of a high-performing legal team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Valid legal practice license, Bar Association License, or equivalent professional legal qualification.
• Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations, particularly commercial and corporate law.
• Strong understanding of regulatory, governance, and compliance frameworks applicable to the Group.
• Sound knowledge of securities and capital markets regulations, including the rules and regulations of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

Experience:

• Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in the legal or judicial field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior legal or judicial leadership role.
• Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel to senior executives and Boards of Directors.
• Strong experience in corporate governance, IPOs, securities regulation, and corporate legal matters.
• Experience in drafting and reviewing legislation, regulations, policies, and legal instruments.
• Extensive experience managing complex litigation, investigations, contracts, regulatory matters, and legal risk.
