Job summary

Gateworth Group in Dubai, UAE, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its centralised finance team. The role focuses on financial reporting, month-end close, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and local standards.

You will work with the Financial Manager and auditors, taking ownership of reconciliations and controls. Candidates should have a professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience in financial reporting, month-end close and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of IFRS and local standards and statutory filing requirements.
• Proficiency in accountancy/ERP software and Excel-based reporting tools.
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate with auditors and management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements based on P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Manage month-end closing and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Reconcile bank statements, AP/AR, and intercompany accounts.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS/GAAP and VAT/corporate tax regulations.
• Liaise with external auditors and prepare documentation for statutory audits.
• Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
• Maintain the general ledger and fixed asset registers for KPI reporting and commentary.

Overview

Gateworth are currently undertaken a search, for an education services client, whom are in the process of looking to recruit a Financial Accountant within their centralised finance team. This Financial Accountant, supporting a Financial Manager, shall take ownership of all areas of financial reporting along with oversight of accounts finalisation, reconciliation and the development of audit-related controls and processes.

Main Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements based around the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow reports.
• Managing the month-end closing process and ensuring timely & accurate reporting.
• Reconciling bank statements, accounts payable/receivable and any intercompany accounts.
• Ensuring adherence to accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and relevant tax regulations (VAT & corporate tax).
• Liaising with external auditors and preparing documentation for statutory audits.
• Assisting with budget preparation, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
• Maintaining the general ledger and fixed asset registers, to meet both performance-based reporting and KPI analysis & commentary.

Qualifications & Prerequisites

• A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
• A minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience within financial reporting, month-end close and reconciliations.
• A knowledge of IFRS and/or relevant local standards and any statutory-based filing and accounting.
• Proficiency in accountancy and/or ERP software along with working knowledge of Excel-based tools for reporting and analytical purposes.
• An ability to work to deadlines, particularly around month-end and year-end close, along with good communication skills for liaising with auditors, management and all commercial departments.
