Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced Finance Technology Lead to define and deliver the technology strategy for HSBC’s regional Finance portfolio.

You will partner with Finance executives to translate priorities into secure, scalable technology solutions and lead a broad portfolio spanning strategy, transformation, platform modernisation, engineering excellence, financial management, resilience and regulatory governance.

Qualifications

• Full-time graduation degree essential for UAE visa and work permit.
• Significant senior technology leadership experience in financial services, typically 10+ years.
• Proven track record leading Finance Technology portfolios in regional/global organisations.
• Deep knowledge of Finance platforms, processes, enterprise applications and banking technology.
• Experience delivering large-scale technology transformation and modernisation programmes.
• Experience engaging with regulators, auditors and senior governance forums.
• Strong financial management experience including budgeting, investment planning, TCO and cost optimisation.
• Track record delivering cloud adoption, AI-enabled transformation, automation and modern engineering practices.
• Strong knowledge of technology risk, controls, resilience and regulatory obligations.
• Ability to communicate complex technology and Finance topics to senior, non-technical audiences.
• Strong influencing, negotiation, decision-making and partnership skills.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Finance Technology Lead to define and deliver the technology strategy for HSBC’s regional Finance portfolio.

As a senior leader within the Global CIO organisation, you’ll partner with Finance executives and business leaders to translate strategic priorities into secure, resilient and scalable technology solutions.

You’ll lead a broad portfolio covering technology strategy, transformation, platform modernisation, engineering excellence, financial management, operational resilience and regulatory governance. You’ll also support the responsible adoption of AI, automation, cloud and data-led capabilities to deliver sustainable business value.

What you’ll do

Shape technology strategy

• Set and deliver the regional Finance Technology strategy, aligned with the global roadmap and enterprise technology vision.
• Define investment plans, platform roadmaps and modernisation priorities.
• Drive simplification, standardisation, automation and the responsible use of AI, cloud and emerging technologies.

Partner with the business

• Act as a trusted adviser to Finance executives and business leaders.
• Influence strategic decisions through strong technology expertise, Finance domain knowledge and industry insight.
• Promote secure, scalable and resilient solutions through modern engineering, automation, DevSecOps and observability.

Manage platforms and technology roadmaps

• Lead platform modernisation, simplification, consolidation, decommissioning and the controlled containment of legacy platforms.
• Reduce technical debt through disciplined standardisation and lifecycle management.
• Ensure platform and architecture decisions align with enterprise standards and Future State Architecture.

Manage financial performance

• Own regional technology budgets across Run, Change and Investment portfolios.
• Improve financial transparency, cost efficiency and value optimisation.
• Support investment prioritisation and develop robust business cases.

Lead governance and stakeholder engagement

• Represent Technology at governance forums, regulatory reviews, audits and inspections.
• Provide accurate evidence and ensure regulatory commitments are delivered fully and on time.
• Build effective partnerships across Technology, Finance, Operations, Risk and Compliance, Cyber Security, Architecture, Engineering and external providers.

What you’ll bring

• A full-time graduation degree of at least three years is essential for obtaining a UAE visa and work permit. For degrees obtained outside the UAE, valid attestations and equivalency are also mandatory.
• Significant senior technology leadership experience within financial services, typically gained over 10 or more years.
• A proven track record leading Finance Technology portfolios in a regional or global organisation.
• Deep knowledge of Finance platforms, processes, enterprise applications and banking technology.
• Experience delivering large-scale technology transformation and modernisation programmes.
• Experience engaging with regulators, auditors and senior governance forums.
• Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, investment planning, Total Cost of Ownership and cost optimisation.
• A track record of delivering cloud adoption, AI-enabled transformation, automation and modern engineering practices.
• Strong knowledge of technology risk, controls, operational resilience and regulatory obligations.
• The ability to communicate complex technology and Finance topics clearly to senior, non-technical audiences.
• Strong influencing, negotiation, decision-making and partnership skills.
