Job summary

Petenco in Dubai seeks a senior finance leader to own financial control, reporting, treasury, tax, and cash discipline for the business. You will supervise the central finance function in Dubai, leading strategic treasury and managing project-based finance staff across the UAE to ensure IFRS compliance and tax readiness.

This on-site role involves coordinating with banks and lenders, managing UAE VAT and Corporate Tax, and driving performance across projects while reporting to the CEO.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience in UAE with leadership

• Advanced Excel for reporting, modelling, and reconciliation

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close quality, journals, accruals, and cost allocations; produce monthly management packs with variances and cash position
• Lead strategic treasury, cash forecasting, and end-to-end project financing negotiations
• Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and FX hedging; ensure multi-currency visibility and working capital optimization
• Oversee project accounting setup, budgets vs actuals, and project close with cross-functional partners
• Fully own UAE VAT and UAE Corporate Tax, ensure IFRS compliance, and coordinate audits

The Role

You will own financial control, reporting, treasury, tax, and cash discipline for the business. You will supervise the central finance function in Dubai, including the Senior Accountant, and oversee project-based finance staff embedded in major projects across the UAE and other jurisdictions. You will lead strategic treasury, engaging directly with banks and lenders to arrange and execute project financing, while fully owning UAE VAT and Corporate Tax. This is an on-site Dubai role with travel to project sites as required.

What you will do

• Own month-end close quality and timelines, review journals, accruals, and cost allocations, and produce monthly management reporting packs with clear commentary on variances, cash position, and entity- and project-level P&L.
• Lead strategic treasury, including cash forecasting and liquidity planning, and own the end-to-end project financing process from identifying banks and lenders and preparing information memoranda through negotiating and executing final arrangements.
• Manage banking relationships and credit facilities, run weekly payment cycles with full approval compliance, maintain multi-currency cash visibility, design FX hedging strategies, and optimise working capital.
• Oversee project accounting setup, cost tracking, budgets versus actuals, and project close to ensure accurate project P&L and margin reporting, partnering with Project, Engineering, and Commercial to reduce revenue leakage.
• Fully own UAE VAT and UAE Corporate Tax (registrations, computations, filings, payments, and FTA correspondence), ensure IFRS compliance across entities, and lead audit coordination to timely closure.
• Manage and develop the Senior Accountant and project-based finance staff across sites, set reporting cadence and quality standards, and improve workflows through SOPs, templates, automation, and stronger controls.

What you bring

Must-have

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with UAE-based experience and demonstrated team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, and UAE Corporate Tax, plus working knowledge of treasury instruments, FX hedging, and project finance structures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong reporting, modelling, and reconciliation capability.
• Full professional proficiency in English & Arabic.

Nice-to-have

• Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent).
• Proven exposure to treasury operations, project finance, or capital structuring, and experience operating across multiple legal entities or jurisdictions.
• ERP familiarity (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
