Job summary

F j T general trading is seeking an Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates for glazing, curtain wall and façade projects in Dubai. You will review tender documents, develop quantities and compile project pricing across materials, labour, fabrication and installation.

The role involves coordinating with Design, Procurement and Operations, evaluating supplier quotes, and supporting post-tender negotiations to improve cost competitiveness while maintaining technical compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Desirable: Quantity Surveying, Estimation, Cost Management or relevant fa ade glazing certification.
• 3–6 years of experience in estimation and cost management related to glazing, curtain wall and cladding projects.
• Reading architectural, structural and shop drawings; BOQ preparation and rate build-up.
• Experience with tender analysis, cost optimization and value engineering.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, BOQs, scope of work and contract requirements for glazing and cladding projects.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for aluminium, glass, cladding panels, profiles, accessories, fixings, etc.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates covering materials, labour, fabrication, installation, equipment, logistics and subcontractors.
• Develop project-specific pricing based on specs, design requirements and commercial assumptions.
• Analyze drawings to identify quantities, interfaces and design requirements; identify scope gaps.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations ensuring alignment with specs and quantities.
• Prepare RFQs and coordinate with procurement to obtain competitive prices.
• Check quotations for coverage, exclusions, lead times and delivery terms.
• Calculate wastage, fabrication allowances and other cost factors.

Reporting To HR Dept Divisions Metaform Categories Engineering To prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates quantity take-offs quotations and commercial proposals for glazing curtain wall fa ade aluminium and cladding projects The Estimation Engineer reviews tender documents develops material and labour requirements obtains supplier quotations identifies project risks and exclusions and coordinates with Design Commercial Procurement and Operations to ensure technically compliant and commercially viable bids

Key Responsibilities

• 1 Review tender enquiries drawings specifications BOQs scope of work and contract requirements for glazing and cladding projects
• 2 Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for aluminium glass cladding panels profiles accessories fixings sealants insulation and related materials
• 3 Prepare accurate cost estimates covering materials labour fabrication installation equipment logistics subcontractors testing and other project costs
• 4 Develop project-specific pricing based on approved specifications design requirements construction methods and commercial assumptions
• 5 Analyse architectural structural and fa ade drawings to identify quantities interfaces design requirements and potential scope gaps
• 6 Review fa ade glazing curtain wall and cladding system requirements and identify suitable systems and materials for pricing
• 7 Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and ensure quotations are aligned with project specifications and required quantities
• 8 Prepare RFQs and coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to obtain competitive and technically compliant prices
• 9 Check supplier quotations for scope coverage exclusions lead times validity delivery terms and technical compliance
• 10 Calculate material wastage fabrication allowances installation requirements and other relevant cost factors
• 11 Prepare detailed estimation sheets rate build-ups BOQs comparison sheets and commercial summaries
• 12 Identify exclusions qualifications assumptions risks and commercial clarifications before submission of the quotation
• 13 Coordinate with Design Engineering to clarify technical requirements drawings system selections and design assumptions
• 14 Support value engineering and alternative material system proposals to improve cost competitiveness while maintaining technical compliance
• 15 Participate in tender clarification meetings and provide technical and commercial input when required
• 16 Assist the Commercial Sales team in preparing quotations tender submissions and revisions
• 17 Review client and consultant clarifications addenda and revised drawings and update estimates accordingly
• 18 Maintain proper records of tender documents quotations supplier prices estimation revisions and approved commercial assumptions
• 19 Support post-tender negotiations clarification of rates and preparation of revised commercial offers
• 20 Compare estimated costs against actual project costs and provide feedback to improve future estimation accuracy
• 21 Monitor market prices and maintain updated cost data for aluminium glass cladding accessories labour and subcontract works
• 22 Ensure all estimates are prepared in accordance with company procedures approval requirements and delegated authority
• 23 Ensure all tender information is treated confidentially and commercially sensitive information is properly controlled
• 24 Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Estimation Commercial Department
• 25 Perform other duties assigned by the Estimation Manager Division Manager or General Manager
