Environmental Compliance Engineer — ISO & Regulatory Leader

Job summary

Shou'alah is seeking an Environmental Engineer to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate policies. The role supports plant operations to remain in regulatory alignment and meet ISO standards across multiple sites in the UAE.

The candidate will develop and maintain EMS documentation, provide expert environmental guidance to the QHSE Manager and plant teams, and liaise with regulators and authorities to ensure permit procurement and reporting compliance.

Qualifications

• Environmental degree or similar.
• Environmental Engineer degree or similar bachelor's degree.
• Certified ISO 14001, Environmental Management System Internal Auditor.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company's Environmental programs and development, policies, and procedures to prevent, eliminate, control and reduce work related hazards and maintain environmental responsibility.
• Perform tasks concerning compliance with legal requirements and improvement measures of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001).
• Develop, maintain and manage all documentation related to Environmental Management System to ensure compliance with ISO14001 Guidelines, and ensure plant specific compliance requirements.
• Provide environmental support and advice to QHSE Manager and Plant Team as required.
• Maintain relations with external parties (regulator, local authorities) in areas associated with environment and accompanying them during site visits and provision of information.
• Ensure regulatory reporting and monitoring compliance including procurement of Site Environmental Permits.
• Carry out periodic inspections and audits to check compliance.
• Prepare monthly environmental performance reports.
• Develop Plant Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register and track actions to closure.
• Review risk assessments/work procedures to manage environmental risks.
• Investigate environmental incidents and produce HSE Alerts/Lessons Learned.
• Maintain records via written or electronic data handling.
• Follow-up daily CEMS values and prepare monthly summaries.
• Ensure spill kits on site and organize spill drills.
• Organize environmental training for plant staff.
• Manage environmental monitoring programme and reporting.
• Review records from environmental measurements and ensure data collection and compliance checks.
