Job summary

MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior HSE Lead to head the company’s HSE management system, foster a proactive safety culture, and ensure UAE compliance across projects.

You will manage HSE teams, oversee risk assessments and incident investigations, coordinate with operations, and drive audits and training to elevate safety performance on major construction sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of construction HSE experience, including senior management responsibility on major projects.
• NEBOSH Diploma/IGC or equivalent; higher-level professional HSE credentials preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UAE occupational safety requirements, construction HSE practices, high-risk activities and environmental controls.
• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor/implementation experience preferred.
• Proven experience managing large HSE teams, subcontractors and high-manpower construction environments.
• Strong incident investigation, audit, training, reporting and leadership capability.
• UAE/GCC experience on major building or MEP projects strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain project/company HSE plans, procedures, objectives and KPIs aligned with legal, client, consultant and ISO requirements.
• Lead HSE staffing, deployment, competency assessment and performance management across project sites and ensure adequate coverage for work fronts and shifts.
• Review and approve risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work systems, emergency plans, lifting plans and high-risk activity controls in coordination with operations.
• Conduct leadership safety walks, audits and inspections and ensure unsafe conditions, observations and non-conformances are assigned, corrected and verified closed.
• Lead incident/near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions and lessons learned and ensure statutory/client notifications are completed as required.
• Monitor leading and lagging indicators including observations, training, PTW compliance, incidents, environmental issues and subcontractor performance and report trends to management.
• Establish induction, toolbox talk, competency and specialized training programmes and verify training effectiveness.
• Manage subcontractor HSE prequalification, onboarding, monitoring and escalation and ensure contractual HSE obligations are enforced.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, first aid, fire prevention, welfare, heat-stress controls and environmental management requirements.
• Interface with client/consultant HSE teams and regulatory authorities and represent the company during audits, inspections and HSE meetings.
• Promote stop-work authority, behavioural safety, positive intervention and management accountability at all levels.

ABOUT THE ROLE
