Job summary

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in Dubai invites an experienced Lead Engineer to drive on-site coordination across safety, quality, and cost objectives. You will liaise with safety, security, and area owners to ensure installations meet requirements and timelines.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, at least five years of site experience, and the ability to lead contractor teams while coaching junior engineers and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Directly monitor and evaluate the work of engineering contractors to maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Liaise with operations and maintenance personnel to secure work permits and documentation for project execution.
  • Act as Lead Engineer or Support Engineer on projects, collaborating with design team members to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Apply experience to train and coach junior engineers, especially new graduates.
  • Provide technical expertise to operations and maintenance managers to ensure plant modifications are performed correctly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring they are implemented following sound engineering practices.
  • Represent the Lead Engineer on low-capital or low-complexity projects as directed.
  • Manage day-to-day project activities, overseeing delivery against budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate on-site contracting teams to ensure safety, quality, and security standards.
  • Oversee coordination with on-site contracting companies to ensure compliance.

Job Overview

Provide a service to Lead Engineers by taking on site coordination responsibilities, liaising with Safety, Security, and Area owners to ensure that installations meet requirements for Safety, Quality, costs, and timeliness. The holder must promptly identify and communicate any problem areas as they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Directly monitor and evaluate the work of engineering contractors to maintain health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in compliance with company policy.
  • Liaise with operations and maintenance personnel to secure work permits and related documentation required for project execution.
  • Act as Lead Engineer or Support Engineer on projects, collaborating with design team members to deliver results that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Apply experience to train and coach junior engineers, especially new graduates, to strengthen the department’s knowledge base.
  • Provide technical expertise to operations and maintenance managers to ensure plant modifications are performed correctly and effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring they are implemented following sound engineering practices.
  • Represent the Lead Engineer on projects of low capital value or low complexity/risks as directed by the Head of Department.
  • Manage day‑to‑day project activities, overseeing project delivery against defined criteria, budgets, and schedules.
  • Guide project prioritization, solution development, and methodology selection alongside more senior colleagues.
  • Handle the installation element of projects with annual capital expenditure up to approximately USD 3million.
  • Assume total responsibility for projects with a capital expenditure of up to approximately USD 1million.
  • Oversee on‑site contracting teams (up to 100 persons) and support staff (up to 3 support engineers and technicians) in maintaining safety, quality, and security performance.
  • Coordinate activities of on‑site contracting companies to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and security standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical qualification in the civil discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of site experience covering safety management and construction processes.
  • Basic engineering and design skills sufficient to deliver expected results.
  • Experience in project management development and application.
