Job summary

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) seeks an experienced Senior Network Engineer to act as SME for Fixed Access and GPON, with emphasis on GOPN, P2P enterprise and consumer setups. The role requires handling TTs, capacity planning, and cross-team coordination to ensure service levels.

Candidates should have 8+ years in telecom, CCNA as baseline with CCIE preferred, and hands-on knowledge of Cisco, Nokia, Huawei GPON and MPLS networks.

Qualifications

• BSc or higher in electrical/electronics/telecom engineering.
• Leadership certs are a plus.
• CCNA required; CCIE preferred.
• Strong experience in routing, switching, MPLS, and GPON.
• Exposure to Juniper/Cisco/Huawei Fortinet firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for Fixed Access and GPON setup.
• Resolve network TTs for GOPN, P2P enterprise and consumer setups.
• Coordinate with assurance teams for enterprise/fixed issues.
• Perform health checks and proactive capacity planning.
• Document network topology and maintain diagrams.
• Manage vendor relationships and DR/runbooks as needed.
• Review and approve network changes (MOP/CR).
• Provide on-time support and root-cause analyses.

Job description

• Acting as Subject Matter Expert for Fixed Access and GPON Setup.
• Resolving the Network and Customer TTs for GOPN, P2P enterprise and Consumer setup.
• Knowledge of Huawei Nokia GPON Setup and CISCO Routing and MPLS Networks
• Handling and interacting with Customer Assurance teams for Enterprise and Fixed TTs.
• Handling issues for IIB layer for Nokia and CISCO
• To perform optimization of traffic to have best customer experience.
• Capacity triggers and follow-up for capacity expansion for IIB layer
• Performing Customer TT analysis and handling.
• Handling troubleshooting for Fixed Access and IIB nodes/solutions in close coordination with other teams.
• Running daily/weekly health checks for the owned nodes/domains.
• Provide the needed-on time support and troubleshooting for all issues happens in Fixed Access and IIB domain.
• Do the needful escalation and involve vendors on time affecting manner in case of need and ensuring adequate follow up and problem resolution within contracted SLAs.
• Performing periodic analysis of performance reports and observations to proactively prevent issues from occurring
• Handling daily Trouble Tickets as per du operation policies and scope of work.
• Oversee the provisioning of periodic and ad-hoc reports to planning team to help in the capacity planning and future upgrades of service delivery platforms and Data-Centers network.
• Providing the needed update for RFO – Reason for outage (if any)/following up all recommendation to avoid re-occurrence of similar faults till it take place.
• Assisting different planning teams/Acceptance Team in all Network Nodes Integrations, propose/attend ATP to assure redundancy, symmetry and best ways of integration are used.
• Maintains an up-to-date documentation/diagrams of the existing devices/solutions to help in troubleshooting issues and share them with other technical teams if required
• Work closely with planning team(s) on capacity planning, upgrades, and design issues related to existing solutions
• Perform periodic health checks, preventive maintenance service delivery platforms and Data Centers network to identify potential problems or loopholes and testing the redundancy.
• Ensure that all network elements and support systems are appropriately redundant and backed up in accordance with agreed policies wherever applicable.
• Review all the documentation presented by either vendors or Network Development for any new network elements or technologies introduced into the network.
• Ensure monitoring and analysis of vendor performance as well as managing the vendor relationship together with the Vendor Management Organization
• Develop technical reports and documentation
• Work on any network disasters, prepare and implement alternative plans and finally restore network to deliver specified service levels.
• Support all efforts for releasing DR runbooks in order to allow for successful service restoration in case of crisis.
• Review, approve, prepare MOP and implement CRs for different du business need

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering.
• Leadership and management certifications.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Telecom Domain.
• CCIE is preferred
• More than 5-7 years of experience in Routing and Switching.
• Experience relationship management inside and outside organization.
• Exposure to Virtualization and Related Operational Techniques

Skills

• Should have experience on legacy platforms – N7K, N5K, 7600, 6500, 3750, 2960 routers and switches
• Should have knowledge on Juniper, Cisco, Huawei, Fortinet firewalls
• Knowledge of IIB and GPON technologies for Nokia, CISCO and Huawei

CCNA is must and preferred in case of CCIE

Experience in MPLS networks and handling corresponding Routers and Switches

Knowledge of Routing protocols, BGP/OSPF/BFD and expert in related configurations

Working level understanding of DNS and DHCP solutions
