Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Civil / Mechanical Engineer – Solar PV to bridge structural engineering and mechanical layout for utility-scale PV plants. You will oversee design review, optimization, and on-site technical supervision of civil foundations, piling, and tracking systems.

The role requires ensuring foundations withstand wind loads, align with tracker kinematics, and provide a stable base for maximum energy yield, with close interface to electrical teams and adherence to project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years planning and scheduling experience, with at least 2 years in utility-scale Solar PV projects.

Responsibilities

• Enforce mechanical torque auditing programs and tighten structural fasteners to specification.
• Generate daily/weekly construction reports comparing site progress to the project schedule.
• Resolve structural-to-mechanical interface clashes, e.g., piling vs MV cabling or drainage paths.
• Review subcontractor shop drawings, calculation sheets, material submittals, and Bar Bending Schedules for concrete foundations.
• Coordinate with electrical engineering to align tracker motors with power supplies and control arrays.
• Review and approve structural layouts for fixed-tilt and single-axis trackers (e.g., Nextracker, ATI, Arctech).
• Ensure strict mechanical tolerances for tracker alignment, drive-slewing, and damper installations.

This role is responsible for the design review, optimization, and on-site technical supervision of civil foundations, piling layout, and structural mechanical tracking systems. The engineer ensures that the plant's physical infrastructure safely withstands localized wind/environmental loads, aligns precisely with mechanical tracking kinematics, and provides a stable foundation for maximum solar energy yield.

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce mechanical torque auditing programs, ensuring all structural fasteners are marked and tightened to specification.
• Generate technical daily/weekly construction reports, verifying site completion progress against the project schedule.
• Resolve structural-to-mechanical interface clashes, such as piling conflicts with underground medium-voltage (MV) cabling paths or drainage networks.
• Review subcontractor shop drawings, calculation sheets, material submittals, and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) for concrete foundations.
• Interface with the electrical engineering team to align mechanical tracker drive motors with electrical power supplies and control arrays.
• Review and approve structural layouts for fixed-tilt structures and single-axis trackers (e.g., Nextracker, ATI, Arctech).
• Ensure strict mechanical tolerances for tracker alignment, torque tube connections, drive-slewing systems, and damper installations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 8+ years of planning and scheduling experience, with at least 2 years explicitly dedicated to utility-scale Solar PV projects.
