Job summary

Majid Al Futtaim is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to review and optimize MEP designs across developments in the UAE. You will ensure design quality, constructability, and sustainability while supporting projects from concept to handover.

Responsibilities include BIM coordination with architectural and structural teams, reviewing calculations and shop drawings, and ensuring compliance with local codes and Majid Al Futtaim standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of mechanical design experience in large-scale developments.
• Knowledge of UAE regulations; GCC/MENA experience preferred.
• Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and ensure quality, completeness, and technical accuracy of mechanical designs (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, gas).
• Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines for seamless integration.
• Review BIM models, drawings, and clash detection outputs using Navisworks and coordination tools.
• Ensure compliance with project briefs, Majid Al Futtaim design standards, and applicable codes/regulations.
• Evaluate constructability and provide value engineering to optimize cost, performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Review technical documentation, including specifications, calculations, reports, shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements.
• Support construction through site visits, technical guidance, issue resolution, and review of mock-ups to align with approved designs.
• Collaborate with consultants and internal stakeholders, manage design risks, participate in coordination meetings, and drive continuous improvement.

The role ensures design quality, constructability, sustainability, and compliance with Majid Al Futtaim standards and applicable codes. Supporting projects from concept through handover, the position drives innovation, digital design, operational efficiency, and sustainability initiatives in line with Majid Al Futtaim developments Net Zero targets.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2 - 5 years of mechanical design experience across retail, residential, mixed-use, and large-scale developments.
• Proven experience across the full project lifecycle, including design review, coordination, and construction support.
• Knowledge of UAE regulations and mechanical design standards; GCC/MENA experience is preferred.
• Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE) is preferred.
• LEED, BREEAM, or other sustainability certifications are advantageous.
