Job summary

Proserv in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Ex-inspector/Electrical Technician with 5+ years in installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of hazardous area electrical equipment. You will ensure IEC 60079-14/17 compliance and PTW-based safety at site, coordinating with the Electrical Services team and clients.

The role involves field inspections, reporting, and adherence to project timelines, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in electrical work in hazardous area installations, inspection and maintenance.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for selection, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of Ex-certified electrical equipment associated with Lighting & Small Power, Heat Tracing Telecommunications, Fire & Gas and Instrumentation, ensuring IEC 60079-14/17 and IEC-60079 series compliance.
• Creates Ex-inspection reports, gathers and checks inspection data to generate hazardous area equipment registers and defects lists.
• Reports minor repairs at the time of inspection and highlights critical defects.
• Gathers daily progress reports and ensures target equipment numbers when lead inspector at site.
• Interprets, verifies, and applies drawings, documentation, and specs to guide field activities.
• Ensures work complies with PTW system and site health and safety protocols.
• Participates in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety discussions.
• Ensures timely submission of approved timesheets for client and internal reporting.
• Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by management (e.g., Electrical Technician, Weidmuller Box Assembler).
• Travel may be necessary to deliver business needs.

What You Need To Know

Comp Ex certified electricians with minimum 5 years' experience in Installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of hazardous area electrical equipment associated with Lighting & Small Power, Heat Tracing Telecommunications, Fire & Gas and Instrumentation, ensuring all activities are in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079-14, IEC 60079-17 and IEC-60079 series.

What We Are Looking For

• Creates individual Ex-inspection reports, gathers, and check all inspection data including team reports to generate hazardous area equipment registers and defects List.
• Reporting minor repairs at the time of inspection and highlighting critical defects.
• Responsible for gathering daily progress reports, ensuring targeted numbers of equipment are reached if assigned as lead inspector at site.

• Interpret, verify, and apply technical drawings, documentation, and specifications to guide field activities accurately.
• Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with the client’s Permit to Work (PTW) system and site-specific health and safety protocols.
• Adhere to all regulatory and client-specific requirements, including completing mandatory training programs.
• Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments, and all relevant safety discussions and procedures.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of approved timesheets, meeting both client and internal reporting requirements.
• Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management to support overall project success, including roles such as Electrical Technician, and Weidmuller Box Assembler, as required.

• Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in electrical work within a similar industry or field, with a strong focus on hazardous area installations, inspection, and maintenance.
