Job summary

Proserv in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Ex-inspector/Electrical Technician to lead installation, inspection and maintenance of ex-certified equipment across Lighting & Small Power, Heat Tracing, Fire & Gas, and Instrumentation. You will interpret drawings, ensure PTW compliance and deliver daily progress updates on site.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation (or related) with 2+ years in hazardous‑area work; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of two (2) years hands‑on experience in electrical work within a similar industry, with focus on hazardous area installations, inspection and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Selection, installation, inspection and maintenance of ex‑certified electrical equipment.
• Creates Ex‑inspection reports and compiles equipment registers.
• Reports minor repairs and highlights critical defects.
• Gathers daily progress reports and leads site inspections as required.
• Interprets drawings and specs to guide field activities.
• Ensures all work complies with PTW and site safety protocols.
• Completes mandatory training and participates in safety discussions.
• Submits timesheets on time and supports project needs.
• Performs additional roles as assigned by management.

What You Need to Know

Comp Ex certified electricians with minimum 5 years experience in Installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of hazardous area electrical equipment associated with Lighting & Small Power, Heat Tracing Telecommunications, Fire & Gas and Instrumentation, ensuring all activities are in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079-14, IEC 60079-17 and IEC-60079 series.

What We Are Looking For

Some of the Key Accountabilities (not limited to):-

• Responsible for selection, Installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of ex-certified electrical equipment associated with Lighting & Small Power, Heat Tracing Telecommunications, Fire & Gas and Instrumentation, ensuring all activities are in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079-14, IEC 60079-17 and IEC-60079 series.

• Creates individual Ex-inspection reports, gathers, and check all inspection data including team reports to generate hazardous area equipment registers and defects List.

• Reporting minor repairs at the time of inspection and highlighting critical defects.

• Responsible for gathering daily progress reports, ensuring targeted numbers of equipment are reached if assigned as lead inspector at site.

• Interpret, verify, and apply technical drawings, documentation, and specifications to guide field activities accurately.

• Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with the client’s Permit to Work (PTW) system and site‑specific health and safety protocols.

• Adhere to all regulatory and client‑specific requirements, including completing mandatory training programs.

• Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments, and all relevant safety discussions and procedures.

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of approved timesheets, meeting both client and internal reporting requirements.

• Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management to support overall project success, including roles such as Electrical Technician, and Weidmuller Box Assembler, as required.
