Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Abu Dhabi seeks an Electrical Engineer – MV Cabling to lead end-to-end design, sizing, and testing of medium voltage cable networks for mega infrastructure projects, utilities, data centers and renewable energy plants.

You will supervise installation, ensure thermal performance, and maintain compliance with DEWA, SEWA, ADDC and international standards, guiding field teams through excavation, trenching, and terminations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8–12 years of direct experience in MV/ HV power distribution networks.
• Experience with underground cabling infrastructure is required.

Responsibilities

• Execute cable pulling tension and SWBP physics calculations using specialized software.
• Establish cable routing layouts, trench profiles, duct banks, and cable tray configurations.
• Provide expert engineering oversight during site excavation, sand bedding, cable pulling, and backfilling.
• Inspect and approve MV terminations and underground joints using heat-shrink or GIS connectors.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer – MV Cabling is responsible for the end-to-end design, sizing, installation supervision, and testing of Medium Voltage (1 kV to 36 kV) cable networks. This role ensures that power distribution systems for mega-infrastructure projects, utilities, data centers, and renewable energy plants are executed safely, optimized for thermal performance, and compliant with international standards and local utility regulations (e.g., DEWA, SEWA, ADDC).

Key Responsibilities

• Execute cable pulling tension and Sidewall Bearing Pressure (SWBP) physics calculations using specialized software to prevent installation damage.
• Establish cable routing layouts, trench profiles, underground duct banks, and cable tray configurations, ensuring appropriate thermal separation and derating factors
• Provide expert engineering oversight during site excavation, sand bedding, cable pulling (winch/roller layouts), and backfilling.
• Inspect and approve critical field activities: MV terminations and underground straight joints utilizing heat-shrink, cold-shrink, or GIS separable connectors.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or equivalent.Experience:
• 8-12 years of direct experience in high-voltage/medium-voltage power distribution networks, specifically focused on underground cabling infrastructure.
