Job summary

Target Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Fabrication Yard to support electrical design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance across oil & gas, marine, and industrial projects in Abu Dhabi.

You will supervise yard electrical works, coordinate with mechanical, piping, and structural teams, and ensure compliance with IEC/NEC standards. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering is mandatory, with Chartered Engineer or PMP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
• Master's Degree or specialization is an advantage.
• Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer, PMP, or equivalent are preferred.
• NEBOSH/OSHA or other safety certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and review electrical systems, diagrams, load calculations, and fabrication yard drawings.
• Supervise electrical installation in the fabrication yard with power, lighting, MCCs, panels, and cabling.
• Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and prepare handover documentation.
• Provide technical support for maintenance and reliability in the yard.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory authorities as required.

YOUR ROLE

As an Electrical Engineer - Fabrication Yard, you will have the below key responsibilities including but not limited to:

Design and Engineering

• Develop and review electrical system designs, single-line diagrams, load calculations, cable sizing, and fabrication yard installation drawings.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards such as IEC and NEC.
• Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations to support fabrication and construction activities.

Fabrication Yard Execution

• Supervise electrical installation works within the fabrication yard, including power distribution systems, lighting networks, transformers, MCCs, panels, and instrumentation cabling.
• Coordinate with fabrication, mechanical, piping, structural, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
• Conduct inspections and verify workmanship during fabrication and assembly stages.

Testing and Commissioning

• Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, motors, control panels, and associated systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement corrective actions to ensure successful system energization.
• Prepare test reports, commissioning records, and handover documentation.

Maintenance and Reliability

• Provide technical support for preventive and corrective maintenance activities within the fabrication yard.
• Investigate electrical failures, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to achieve project objectives.
• Coordinate with project management, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities as required.
• Support project progress reviews and technical discussions throughout execution phases.

Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain accurate engineering, inspection, testing, and maintenance records.
• Ensure all electrical activities are executed in accordance with HSE policies, project quality requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in audits and implement corrective and preventive actions where required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience

• Minimum 6-8 years of electrical engineering experience within oil & gas EPC projects, fabrication yards, or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven experience supporting projects from engineering design through construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Strong exposure to fabrication yard construction activities, modular fabrication, and multidisciplinary project environments.
• Experience working across oil & gas, marine, power, industrial, or plant projects is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise contractors and manage electrical works safely and efficiently.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (mandatory).
• Master's Degree or further specialization is an advantage.
• Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer, PMP, or equivalent are preferred.
• NEBOSH, OSHA, or other recognized safety certifications are highly desirable.
