Electrical Draftsman – Building Construction

Location: Dubai, UAE Salary: AED 5,000–7,000 per month Industry: Building Construction / Electrical / MEP Experience: Approximately 4 years Employment Type: Full-time

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Draftsman with building construction experience to prepare, revise and maintain electrical drawings for building projects in Dubai. The successful candidate will have practical experience preparing electrical shop drawings, lighting and power layouts, cable containment drawings and as-built documentation. Strong AutoCAD skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings and effective coordination with engineers and site teams are essential for this position. Candidates with UAE building construction experience and familiarity with MEP coordination requirements will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical shop drawings, layout drawings and as-built drawings for building construction projects.
• Develop electrical drawings covering lighting systems, power distribution, small power, cable containment and related installations.
• Interpret electrical design drawings, technical specifications and project requirements.
• Review architectural and structural drawings to identify potential clashes and coordinate electrical installations.
• Revise drawings in line with engineering instructions, consultant comments and site requirements.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, MEP teams and site personnel to resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision records and document control procedures.
• Ensure the latest approved drawings are available to relevant project teams.
• Assist with electrical material documentation, technical submissions and drawing approval processes when required.
• Ensure drawings comply with approved designs, project specifications and applicable project standards.
• Incorporate site changes into as-built drawings and maintain accurate project documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related technical qualification.
• Approximately 4 years of electrical drafting experience, preferably within UAE building construction.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting and drawing preparation.
• Practical experience preparing electrical shop drawings and as-built drawings.
• Good understanding of lighting layouts, power layouts, distribution systems and cable containment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural and structural drawings.
• Familiarity with drawing revisions, consultant comments and MEP coordination.
• Good attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
• Experience with Revit or other relevant BIM tools will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience

Candidates who have independently prepared electrical shop drawings for residential, commercial or other building construction projects in the UAE will be particularly suitable. Experience coordinating electrical drawings with mechanical, plumbing, architectural and structural disciplines will be an added advantage.

Salary

AED 5,000–7,000 per month, depending on relevant experience and technical proficiency.
