EI Inspector – Electrical Systems in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is a technical inspection opportunity within the Oil and Energy sector for experienced electrical, instrumentation, or control engineering professionals with strong exposure to oil and gas and petrochemical construction projects. This role is suitable for candidates who can inspect electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, control gear, UPS, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power systems in both new construction and brownfield modification environments. The position requires careful technical assessment, strong documentation skills, regulatory compliance awareness, and the ability to ensure site work is completed according to approved standards, inspection procedures, safety requirements, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect electrical and instrumentation installations in oil and gas and petrochemical construction projects.
- Review work related to 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electric power distribution systems.
- Inspect switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS systems, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power distribution systems.
- Verify that site activities follow approved drawings, specifications, inspection test plans, method statements, and project quality procedures.
- Support inspection checks for new construction works and brownfield modifications to existing electrical systems.
- Assist in FAT and SAT activities by reviewing equipment readiness, test documentation, and compliance records.
- Apply ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, BS, and relevant project standards during inspection and quality review.
- Identify technical defects, installation issues, safety concerns, documentation gaps, and non-compliance items.
- Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, technical observations, quality records, and corrective action recommendations.
- Coordinate with contractors, QA‑QC teams, engineering departments, safety personnel, and client representatives.
- Review technical documents, drawings, inspection records, and test packages for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain strong attention to detail while supporting safe, compliant, and timely project delivery.
Ideal Profile
- Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
- 10‑12 years of experience in oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
- Strong inspection experience in construction projects and brownfield modifications.
- Practical knowledge of 33 KV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV, and 415 V electrical power distribution systems.
- Experience with switchgear, control gear, distribution boards, UPS, earthing, lighting, underground cabling, cathodic protection, and small power systems.
- Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO, BS, and related industrial standards.
- FAT and SAT exposure is required or strongly preferred.
- CompEx or ATEX knowledge is preferred for hazardous area environments.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to carry out technical assessment and regulatory compliance checks.
- Good communication skills for inspection reporting, site coordination, and client interaction.
- Ability to evaluate risk, follow inspection procedures, and maintain safety standards during field activities.
