Job summary

Dubai American Academy, part of Gems Education UAE, seeks a qualified High School Spanish Teacher for maternity cover starting October 15, 2026. The role requires maintaining curriculum continuity and delivering engaging instruction within an American and IB learning environment in Dubai.

The ideal candidate will have proven high school Spanish teaching experience, a relevant teaching qualification, and the ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education with a Spanish specialism, or a relevant bachelor's degree with PGCE, PGDE or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching Spanish at high school level.
• Experience in an American curriculum or International Baccalaureate school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver interactive High School Spanish lessons aligned with academy curriculum standards.
• Maintain continuity in curriculum content throughout the maternity cover period.
• Follow established schemes of work, pacing expectations and departmental procedures.
• Develop students' listening, speaking, reading and writing proficiency.
• Teach vocabulary, grammar and sentence structures through meaningful communication.
• Use Spanish consistently to build learner confidence and practical language fluency.
• Introduce literature, media, traditions and cultural perspectives from Spanish-speaking communities.
