Job summary

GEMS Education UAE is seeking a Primary Inclusion Teacher - SEN Support for an August 2026 start at GEMS Metropole School in Dubai. The role focuses on inclusive teaching, planning targeted interventions, and partnering with families to ensure access to the curriculum for all learners.

The successful candidate will implement evidence-based strategies, monitor progress, and contribute to an inclusive school culture built on curiosity, confidence, and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with recognised PGCE/PGDE or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching Inclusion or supporting students with additional learning needs.
  • Experience working with primary-aged students in a school.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and targeted intervention.
  • Ability to assess learning needs and create individual support plans.
  • Experience monitoring progress and using evidence to adapt provision.
  • Knowledge of literacy, numeracy, communication and social-emotional interventions.
  • Ability to collaborate with class teachers, learning support assistants, parents, and external professionals.
  • Reflective, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ambition to progress within an international school network.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted individual, small-group, and in‑class support for primary students with identified learning needs.
  • Assess students' academic, developmental, behavioural, communication, and social‑emotional requirements.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans, support plans, intervention programmes, and measurable learning targets.
  • Review student targets regularly and adjust provision according to progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons, resources, tasks, and assessment methods.
  • Recommend practical teaching strategies that improve curriculum access and classroom participation.
  • Support students with literacy, numeracy, communication, executive functioning, attention, behaviour, and emotional regulation needs.
  • Provide appropriate challenge and support while encouraging independence and confidence.
  • Monitor student attainment and progress through structured data collection and evidence‑based review.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, meetings, targets, and outcomes.
  • Prepare clear progress reports for school leaders, teachers, and parents.
  • Participate in student support meetings, inclusion reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Work closely with parents to explain support strategies, progress, and next steps.
  • Coordinate with counsellors, therapists, psychologists, medical professionals, and external agencies when required.
  • Support the implementation of professional recommendations within the school environment.
  • Guide learning support assistants in delivering planned interventions and classroom strategies.
  • Model inclusive teaching methods and share effective practice with colleagues.
  • Contribute to professional development sessions on differentiation, inclusion, and student support.
  • Help teachers establish inclusive classroom routines and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Support student transitions between year groups, phases, schools, or support programmes.
  • Contribute to school policies, procedures, and improvement planning related to inclusion.
  • Promote a culture in which student differences are understood, respected, and supported.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and community‑based initiatives.
  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, health and safety, and school compliance requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional learning and remain current with developments in inclusive education.
