Job summary

Drake & Scull International is looking for a Mechanical Draughtsman to prepare precise mechanical shop drawings for HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection systems. You will coordinate with architectural, structural and other MEP disciplines and respond to RFIs and site instructions.

Role requires strong drafting discipline, practical construction understanding and the ability to adapt to project coordination changes.

Qualifications

• Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of mechanical drafting experience in MEP contracting.
• Strong AutoCAD skills for shop, coordination and as-built drawings.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection systems.
• Ability to read specs, BOQs, drawings and consultant comments.
• High attention to detail and deadline adherence.
• UAE/GCC high-rise, hospitality, residential or commercial projects.
• Experience with plant rooms, pump rooms and builders work drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical shop drawings for HVAC, chilled water, ducting, plumbing and drainage.
• Develop coordination drawings with architectural, structural and other MEP disciplines.
• Revise drawings based on RFIs, consultant/client comments and site instructions.
• Prepare as-built drawings from approved markups and actual site installations.
• Maintain proper layers, title blocks and revision numbers.
• Support engineers with technical details, sections and equipment layouts.
• Ensure drawings are clear, buildable and aligned with project specs.

The role requires strong drafting discipline, practical construction understanding and the ability to respond quickly to site requirements, consultant comments and project coordination changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical shop drawings for HVAC, chilled water, ducting, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and related systems.
• Develop coordination drawings with architectural, structural, electrical and other MEP disciplines.
• Revise drawings based on RFIs, consultant/client comments, site instructions and design updates.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on approved markups and actual site installations.
• Maintain proper layers, title blocks, revision numbers, drawing registers and file organisation.
• Support engineers with technical details, sections, builders work, equipment layouts and installation drawings.
• Ensure drawings are clear, buildable and aligned with project specifications and company drafting standards.

• Diploma/ITI Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of Mechanical Drafting experience in MEP contracting.
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency with practical knowledge of shop drawings, coordination drawings and as-builts.
• Good understanding of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection systems.
• Ability to read specifications, BOQs, design drawings and consultant comments.
• Strong attention to detail, revision control and deadline management.
