Job summary

Credo Talent Solutions represents a leading UAE client seeking a Director to lead Rolling Mill 5 operations. You will own production, maintenance and material handling end-to-end, ensuring smooth plant operation and alignment with the business plan.

Responsibilities include developing the annual operating plan, driving strategic improvements, coordinating with suppliers and enforcing NQA-compliant quality systems, safety and regulatory standards. A senior leadership capability is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required.
• 10–15 years in manufacturing and management within the steel industry.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior managerial position in steel manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years in rolling mills (long products).
• Proven track record of journal publications or patents in a technological field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the annual rolling mill operating plan, policies and procedures.
• Build long-term plans to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
• Drive innovation by integrating new technologies and processes for mill performance.
• Advise all levels of the business on rolling mill matters.
• Lead production, maintenance and support teams; set objectives and coach staff.
• Define the optimum organisation structure and recruit/train plant personnel.
• Direct resource planning and oversee processes, controls and work instructions.
• Resolve critical technical and production issues to minimise downtime.
• Lead equipment and process development; maintain quality management and NQA compliance.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and external agencies.
• Implement a systematic maintenance approach to maximise plant availability.
• Prepare and manage annual operating budgets and capital expenditure planning.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure EHS compliance.

Our client, a leading integrated steel manufacturer in the UAE, is seeking a Director to lead its Rolling Mill 5 operation. You will own production, maintenance and material handling end-to-end, ensure smooth plant operation, and make sure the mill has the talent, processes and technology to deliver its business plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, secure approval for and implement the annual operating plan, policies and procedures for the rolling mill
• Build long-term strategic plans to improve operational efficiency and productivity, aligned with company objectives
• Drive innovation by integrating new technologies and processes that improve mill performance and product quality
• Advise all levels of the business on rolling mill matters

Leadership & Organisation

• Lead production, maintenance and support teams – set objectives, manage performance, coach and develop staff
• Define the optimum organisation structure for the mill
• Recruit, train, appraise and develop plant employees and supervisors

Operations

• Direct resource planning and allocation; oversee processes, controls and work instructions across the mill
• Personally resolve critical technical and production issues to minimise downtime
• Lead technical development of plant equipment and processes
• Maintain a robust quality management system and product quality control, including nuclear-grade quality assurance (NQA) compliance
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and external agencies

Maintenance

• Implement a systematic maintenance approach that maximises plant availability
• Establish systems capturing maintenance cost per equipment to drive predictive and preventive maintenance

Budget & Capital Planning

• Prepare and manage annual operating budgets; identify cost-reduction and efficiency opportunities
• Recommend the mill's capital expenditure plan and lead ongoing asset condition and compliance reviews

HSE

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure EHS compliance across employees and contractors

Requirements

• University degree in Engineering
