Job summary

GRG is seeking a hands-on Director in Abu Dhabi to lead the oversight of external fund reporting, LP investment activity and GP relationships. The role demands strong private equity fund knowledge, sound judgement, and the confidence to engage with fund managers and senior leadership.

You will combine institutional LP experience with PE fund reporting expertise and proactive engagement with external GPs, providing concise reporting and insights to the head of funds.

• Interpret LPAs and side letters to identify reporting obligations and fund economics.
• Act as a proactive point of contact for GPs and investor relations teams; resolve reporting queries.

Job description

An excellent opportunity with a confidential investment platform in Abu Dhabi, investing as a Limited Partner (LP) across a portfolio of private equity funds, alongside co-investments with external fund managers. The role will report to an experienced and highly impressive Head of Funds.

We are seeking a hands‑on Director to lead the oversight of external fund reporting, LP investment activity and GP relationships. This is a highly visible role requiring strong private equity fund knowledge, sound judgement and the confidence to initiate conversations with fund managers, question information and communicate clear conclusions to senior leadership.

The successful candidate will combine technical credibility with an engaging, proactive approach. This is not a traditional fund accounting or investment origination position. You will combine institutional LP experience, technical understanding of PE fund reporting, and proactive engagement with external GPs.

Responsibility overview

• Oversee reporting and operational monitoring across a portfolio of LP fund commitments and relevant co‑investments.
• Review GP quarterly and annual reporting, fund financial statements, capital account statements and material changes in NAV and performance.
• Monitor capital calls, distributions, unfunded commitments and key private equity performance metrics, including IRR, TVPI, DPI and RVPI.
• Review LPAs, side letters and related fund documents to identify reporting obligations, fund economics and matters requiring clarification.
• Interpret GP valuation commentary and portfolio‑company performance, including EBITDA, enterprise value and valuation multiples.
• Act as a proactive point of contact for GPs and their investor relations and finance teams; initiate discussions, resolve reporting queries and follow through on outstanding matters.
• Provide concise reporting and insights to senior leadership, and guide fund‑finance colleagues as needed.

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of relevant experience in private equity fund oversight, LP investment operations, investment finance, etc
• Strong experience of PE fund reporting, capital calls, distributions, LPAs, fund economics and performance measures.
• Experience within an institutional LP, family office, sovereign‑linked investment platform, private equity investment group or investment holding company.
• Excellent communication skills, initiative and a proven ability to engage directly and constructively with external fund managers.
• Comfortable interpreting fund valuation terminology and identifying issues that warrant follow‑up; independent investment underwriting is not required.
• Familiarity with international fund structures and jurisdictions, such as ADGM, the UK, Cayman Islands or the US, is advantageous.
• Candidates already based in the UAE will be prioritized; relevant GCC private‑markets exposure is beneficial.

Preferred Backgrounds:

• Audit + Investment House: Started in Big 4 or mid-tier audit (asset management or financial services practice), then moved into an investment firm in a fund operations, finance, or controller/leadership capacity
• Investment Company: Spent the bulk of career within a private equity firm, asset manager, or family office in fund operations, fund accounting, or investment finance.

Prior experience at a Western or US-headquartered investment manager, private equity firm, or global asset manager is highly desirable.
