Job summary

Kempinski Hotels in Dubai seeks a Director of Housekeeping to lead the Housekeeping & Laundry department across guest rooms, public areas, outlets and back-of-house environments. The role ensures timely, defect-free services and drives Kempinski standards of cleanliness and ambience.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Housekeeping department or similar team.
• Ability to manage budgets, staffing and schedules in a luxury hospitality setting.
• Familiarity with Kempinski standards and service quality expectations.
• Proficiency in Opera PMS and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, presentation and grooming standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Housekeeping Department by developing and implementing departmental objectives in line with hotel business objectives.
• Inspect all areas and take corrective measures to meet Kempinski Standards in cleanliness, maintenance and supply.
• Select, train, develop, schedule and manage the performance of subordinates to ensure efficient housekeeping operations.
• Manage linen inventory and guest supplies and the ordering of supplies to meet quality standards and hotel needs.
• Prepare the annual budget and manning guide and manage the department within budgetary guidelines.
• Coordinate and review contracts for plant rental, window cleaning, night cleaning, pest management, room cleaning, and flowers and decoration.

Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for managing the Housekeeping Department in order to ensure the highest standards of upkeep, hygiene and cleanliness of the Hotel, including all Guest rooms, public areas, food & beverage outlets, banquet facilities and back of the house. Closely monitors all processes related to ensuring that the housekeeping services provided to the guest are timely and defect free.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Housekeeping Department by developing and implementing departmental objectives in line with the hotel business objectives.
• Inspect all areas and take corrective measures in order to meet Kempinski Standards in terms of cleanliness, maintenance and supply.
• Select, train, develop, schedule and manage the performance of direct and indirect subordinates to ensure the efficient running of housekeeping operations.
• Manage linen inventory and guest supplies and the ordering of supplies as necessary to meet quality standards and hotel business needs.
• Prepare the annual budget and manning guide and manage the housekeeping department within budgetary guidelines.
• Coordinate and review contracts, including plant rental, window cleaning, night cleaning, pest management, room cleaning, and flowers and decoration contracts, and ensure compliance by both parties.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Operational knowledge of housekeeping equipment and machines, including washing machines, dry-cleaners and pressing machines
• Knowledge of how to clean different fabric materials
• Knowledge of chemicals
• Proficiency in Opera PMS and Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with superb presentation and grooming
