The Head of Governance, Architecture, and Strategy leads the Digital Transformation Governance, Architecture, and Strategy team at Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA).
This role is responsible for developing and aligning the overall Digital Transformation departmental strategy with EGA’s overall business strategies, managing the DT Governance budget, implementing standard Digital Transformation policies, co-ordinating all audits and overseeing the development of Digital Transformation service management models.
Additionally, the role will unlock and ensure the continuous improvement of Digital Transformation value generation, adherence to compliance requirements, and strategic development of the organization’s enterprise architecture.
Develop and submit the Digital Transformation Governance departmental budget (OpEx/CapEx).
Monitor financial performance versus the budget to identify areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential areas for cost reduction or performance improvement.
Ensure each Product Service Line and corresponding products’ value can be measured and tracked.
Develop, seek approval, and oversee the implementation of standard EGA Digital Transformation policies, procedures, and controls covering all areas of Digital Transformation functional activity to ensure compliance.
Support the Chief Digital Officer with the definition of the Digital Transformation performance objectives, corporate and departmental Key Performance Indicators aligned with EGA business and Digital Transformation strategy.
Lead the definition and implementation of quality-related KPIs to enable continuous monitoring and evaluation of Digital Transformation service quality in line with international standards.
Oversee timely audits to assess Digital Transformation performance, ensuring compliance with defined quality parameters, policies, and regulations, and ensure all findings are closed within agreed deadlines
Ensure the development and implementation of EGA’s Digital Transformation service management model, including the definition of services and service delivery processes using standard IT Service Management and/or agile methodologies.
Lead the implementation of the Internal Customer Satisfaction Survey (outward) and the
Mashura Employee Survey (inward). Conduct post-survey results analysis involving other DT domains and coordinate action plans for timely completion
Lead the strategic development and implementation of the organization’s target enterprise architecture to enable and align the technology landscape with business goals.
Ensure the architecture is scalable, future proof, and secure, optimizing technology investments and fostering innovation.
Formulate perspectives on emerging technologies, assess their relevance to business goals and operational requirements, and advocate for a comprehensive understanding of industry trends.
Develop models for compliance architecture, monitor and measure architecture performance against global benchmarks, and obtain the management buy-in to ensure compliance in critical areas such as data storage, metadata management, regulatory compliance, and change control.
Lead the effective procurement and optimization of all Digital Transformation licenses and contracts.
Renew licenses and other maintenance contracts for services, software, outsourced contracts, and hardware maintenance
Support the Chief Digital Office with the development the Digital Transformation strategy to enable EGA’s business strategies to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies across EGA.
Lead the ongoing development and implementation of Digital Transformation agile project management methodologies (agile/waterfall/scrum) to facilitate the completion of projects and programs within agreed timelines, budgets, and at acceptable levels of quality and risk.
Ensure the evaluation, monitoring, and reporting of business value delivered by Digital Transformation projects and the overall portfolio of IT projects/programs.
Determine target returns on investment in Digital Transformation projects/programs and recommend ways of improving this return
Manages the effective achievement of departmental objectives through the leadership of the department – setting individual objectives, recruiting qualified staff, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximise subordinate and departmental performance
Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude
Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
Key decisions having significant impact on the department are referred to the reporting manager for approval before implementation.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent.
A professional qualification in Project Management is preferable
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT overall, 5 years+ in either governance, architecture, and IT strategy, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Proven experience and track record in developing and implementing IT strategies and policies.
Strong understanding of IT service management models and methodologies (ITSM, agile, etc.).
Excellent financial management skills and experience managing large budgets.
Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications such as CGEIT, TOGAF, ITIL, PMP, ISO20000, ISO27001 standards or similar are preferable.
