Job summary

Job Purpose

The Digital Oil Field Engineer will provide specialist technical expertise, in coordination with the Field Development Division, to optimize oil and gas field production and reservoir recovery. The role focuses on real-time dynamic modelling, effective reservoir monitoring and balanced injection and production processes. It also supports the application of smart well completions and surveillance technologies to improve well monitoring and production performance.

Digital Oil Field Engineering

• Prepare technical background information and summaries covering Digital Oil Field concepts for assigned operational issues.
• Identify and contribute to the development of technologies and solutions that can improve operating practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend viable solutions for implementation.
• Support Digital Oil Field programs associated with rigless operations, testing and stimulation.
• Apply Digital Oil Field concepts to support optimization of oil and gas producing wells, water supply wells and water and gas injection wells.
• Map key production management processes and identify the tools and data required for optimization.

Production and Reservoir Optimization

• Coordinate with Petroleum Development units on the application of downhole pressure, temperature and flow-rate measurements.
• Support the use of downhole control valves as part of the Digital Oil Field concept.
• Provide technical advice on remote monitoring, control and surveillance tools for reservoir management.
• Support optimization of oil production, gas lift and gas injection operations.
• Apply production and surveillance information to improve understanding of well and reservoir performance.

Technology Evaluation and Field Trials

• Participate in commissioning and implementation of field trials.
• Monitor testing activities and evaluate operational and performance results.
• Prepare technical evaluation reports and recommendations following field trials.
• Survey available technologies to identify promising gas lift optimization techniques.
• Plan and implement pilot studies to establish proof of concept.
• Recommend wider implementation of successful technologies based on pilot results.

Digital Oil Field Projects

• Initiate Terms of Reference for Digital Oil Field applications.
• Develop scopes of work for Digital Oil Field projects.
• Conduct technical evaluations of proposed Digital Oil Field projects.
• Coordinate technical requirements with relevant internal functions, service providers, suppliers, contractors and manufacturers.
• Support implementation of selected technologies and solutions within field operations.

Supervision and Staff Development

• Plan, supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned area to achieve functional objectives.
• Train and develop assigned staff in relevant technical skills.
• Support knowledge transfer and development of personnel required to meet unit objectives.

Budget and Performance Management

• Provide input for preparation of Unit and Divisional budgets.
• Assist with implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
• Investigate and highlight significant variances to support performance and cost control.
• Contribute to achievement of approved Unit and Division performance objectives.

Policies and Continuous Improvement

• Implement approved Unit and Divisional policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures.
• Ensure assigned activities support work programs in accordance with company and international standards.
• Design and implement tools and techniques that improve operational quality and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes against relevant industry practices.

Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability

• Comply with ADNOC Onshore and ADNOC HSE procedure requirements.
• Report incidents and occupational illnesses to the line supervisor.
• Immediately consult the line supervisor when unsafe practices or conditions are identified or when there is uncertainty regarding operational safety.
• Carry out assigned emergency responsibilities in accordance with the applicable emergency response role.

Reporting and Coordination

• Provide input for Section MIS and progress reports for company management.
• Maintain frequent coordination with technical units, Field Operations, support units and CITD.
• Coordinate as required with service providers, suppliers, contractors, manufacturers, ADNOC and other OPCOs.

Minimum Qualification
