Job summary

Dewan Consultants in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Diesel Mechanic responsible for preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of heavy and light vehicles used in waste management operations. The role ensures roadworthy condition in line with company policies and regulatory standards.

The position involves diagnosing faults, overhauling engines and braking systems, prioritizing safety, and coordinating with procurement for spare parts.

Qualifications

  • ITI or Technical Certificate in Automotive.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in maintenance of heavy and light vehicles, preferably in the waste management sector.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle components.
  • Hands-on experience with refuse collection vehicles, skip loaders, and related equipment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and repair works on heavy and commercial vehicles including refuse compactors, pickups, city compactors, hook loaders, skip loaders, tankers, and trailers.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform overhauling of engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and braking systems as required.
  • Inspect and test vehicles to ensure all repairs meet required quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and serviceable condition.
  • Follow workshop safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and report any unsafe conditions or faulty equipment.
  • Support the workshop foreman and supervisor in day-to-day operational activities.
  • Assist with field repairs and provide on-site breakdown support when required.
  • Identify spare parts requirements and coordinate with the store or procurement team for timely availability.

Salary Range AED 3,0003,500 including Food and Accommodation & Transportation provided by company.
