Job summary

Al Abbar Group, a Dubai-based façade specialist, is seeking a Design Manager to lead the façade design function across the full lifecycle of shop drawings from contract interpretation to site-approved deliverables. The role requires high-level technical oversight, coordination with clients and consultants, and strong leadership to ensure on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• 15 years' façade design experience
• Strong 3D design/modelling skills
• Proven leadership and team management capability
• Excellent communication with clients, consultants and contractors
• Strong technical knowledge of façade systems and construction methods

Responsibilities

• Design & Technical Delivery: interpret contract documents, oversee shop drawings and structural checks, ensure compliance, manage timely submissions and fabrication details.
• Coordination & Stakeholder Management: liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams, support project managers with technical input, attend site/consultant meetings, coordinate variations and procurement inputs.
• Leadership & Performance: lead and mentor the design team, allocate resources, monitor progress against milestones, uphold quality and drive continuous improvement.

Role Overview

The Design Manager leads the façade design function, managing the full lifecycle of shop drawings from contract interpretation through to site-approved deliverables. This role ensures technical accuracy, compliance, and timely project delivery while coordinating across internal teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Interpret contract documents, specifications, and drawings to define design scope
• Oversee the preparation and review of shop drawings and structural checks
• Ensure compliance with architectural, structural, and project requirements
• Manage timely submission and approval of drawings and materials
• Issue drawings and fabrication details within project timelines

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
• Support Project Managers with technical expertise
• Attend site and consultant meetings to resolve design issues
• Coordinate variations, custom solutions, and procurement inputs

Leadership & Performance

• Lead, mentor, and manage the design team
• Allocate resources and oversee design progress against milestones
• Maintain high standards of quality, productivity, and delivery
• Support continuous improvement and resolve technical site issues

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years’ façade design experience
• Strong 3D design/modelling skills
• Proven leadership and team management capability
• Excellent communication skills with clients, consultants, and contractors
• Strong technical knowledge of façade systems and construction methods
• Based in Dubai
