Job summary

Wynn Al Marjan Island, UAE, is seeking a Deputy Head Wardrobe to join the Theater Operations team on-site. You will oversee wardrobe staff, assist with hiring, training, scheduling and costuming standards for a large-scale production environment.

The role requires a minimum five years in wardrobe management and three years in costume construction, with strong leadership, organizational and cross-cultural collaboration skills, and the ability to work under pressure during performances and events.

Qualifications

Job Description

Wynn Al Marjan Island will be the first integrated resort in the UAE. Set to open in 2027, the resort will be located 50 miles from Dubai International Airport in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The resort will offer 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, a theater, and a beach club. It will feature multiple swimming and wading pools, a five-star spa, a salon, a shopping promenade, and a celebrations and events center.

About the Position:

Wynn Al Marjan Island is currently seeking a Deputy Head of Wardrobe to join the resort's Theater Operations team.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:

• Assist the Head of Department in supervising the Wardrobe Department staff and with hiring and training new employees.
• Assist with managing and documenting all required staff training.
• Assist with staff scheduling and timekeeping.
• Assist with developing, standardizing and documenting proper costume maintenance procedures, repair standards and proper laundering processes for all costumes, headpieces, wigs, shoes, makeup and accessories.
• Ensure the ongoing integrity of all costume designs, accessories, and headpieces.
• Practice continuous quality improvement; regularly review existing processes looking for improvements and cost savings.
• Support the performers at all times by assisting and guiding their interactions with wardrobe staff and all costume elements, wardrobe accessories, supplies.
• Assist in guiding and encouraging staff to maintain the highest level of quality and continuity in their work.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff daily.
• Define and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Assist in managing the supply, replacement, and inventory of consumables.
• Provide wardrobe support to performers for all PR events, photoshoots, and other special events.
• Follow, implement and assist the Head of Department with enforcing all company policies and procedures.
• Assist in developing, implementing and documenting department policies and procedures including department specific safety policies.
• Assist with enforcing all company policies and procedures.
• Define and maintain a safe work environment.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a management or supervisory position in a Wardrobe Department with a large-scale production show or live theatrical production.
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in costume construction; knowledge of costume design; general costume, headpiece, wig and shoe maintenance and laundry procedures; experience working with wardrobe staff and performers in the backstage environment during a live performance
• Experience with industrial sewing machines, sergers, hand tools and other equipment commonly used in a theatrical wardrobe department
• Experience with a wide variety of methods and materials used for costume construction and costume maintenance.
• Must be able to manage staff and perform under pressure.
• Must have the ability to direct and motivate the performers.
• Must have the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
• Must be highly organized and be able to function in a stressful environment.
• Must be able to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
