Job summary

Star Services in Abu Dhabi is seeking a seasoned mechanical maintenance professional for the finishing section of the steel production line. The role requires hands-on maintenance of finishing mill equipment, performance of preventive and corrective tasks, and swift response to breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years in the steel industry, ready to work in a highly mechanical environment and adhere to safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the steel industry focused on mechanical maintenance and workshops.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily mechanical maintenance in the Finishing Section.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of finishing mill equipment.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect equipment for abnormal conditions such as vibration, leakage, overheating, misalignment, and unusual noise.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, assemble, and replace mechanical components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, rollers, guides, conveyors, shears, straightening machines, and related equipment.
• Assist with maintenance of cooling beds, roller tables, transfer systems, bundling and material-handling equipment.
• Align, level, lubricate, and perform mechanical adjustments.
• Support planned shutdowns, major maintenance, overhauls, and equipment modifications.
• Use drawings, manuals, and maintenance instructions for repairs.
• Check hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and coordinate with specialists.
• Maintain tools, tackles, lifting equipment, and spares.
• Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Operations teams during maintenance.
• Record maintenance work, breakdown details, and completed jobs.
• Support root-cause analysis of recurring mechanical failures.
• Maintain good housekeeping in finishing and maintenance areas.
• Follow SOPs, PTW, LOTO, PPE, and plant HSE requirements.
