Job summary

Times World Information Technology in Dubai seeks an experienced Database Engineer to design, build and maintain secure, scalable database systems for enterprise platforms and client projects.

You will optimize SQL queries, manage data integration and ensure high availability, backups, security, and compliance while collaborating with developers and analysts.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and cloud/on-prem deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on database engineering, development or administration.
• Strong expertise in relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Advanced SQL skills, query tuning, indexing and transaction management.
• Experience with data migration, integration and production support.
• Knowledge of backup/recovery, high availability, access control and data security.
• Experience with cloud-hosted and/or on-premises databases.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database schemas, data models and structures aligned with application and reporting requirements.
• Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and indexing strategies.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks and plan capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain database schemas data models and structures aligned with application and reporting requirements

Advanced SQL skills and practical experience in query tuning, indexing, execution plans and transaction management. Experience with database migration, integration and production support. Sound understanding of backup and recovery, high availability, access control and data security. Experience working with cloud-hosted and/or on-premises databases. Strong troubleshooting, documentation and collaboration skills.

Preferred

Experience with data warehouses, dimensional modelling and analytical workloads. Knowledge of NoSQL databases and scripting with Python, PowerShell or similar tools. Experience supporting multi-tenant enterprise platforms and large datasets. Relevant database or cloud certifications.
