Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring lessons that help students succeed and achieve strong academic outcomes.
- Plan and prepare learning sessions that follow curriculum expectations and meet different ability levels.
- Create an organised classroom environment with resources, displays, and activities that support meaningful learning.
- Work with fellow teachers to plan lessons, share teaching strategies, and improve curriculum delivery.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, support staff, and the wider school community.
- Use inclusive teaching approaches that encourage independence, motivation, participation, and confidence.
- Observe and assess student learning in line with school assessment procedures.
- Record student progress using Target Tracker and use assessment data to guide planning and intervention.
- Provide parents and carers with clear feedback on student progress during conferences and school meetings.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively using approaches suitable for student needs and school policy.
- Promote self‑control, respect, responsibility, and positive learning habits across daily classroom routines.
- Work with curriculum support staff and external specialists such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, or educational psychologists when required.
- Reflect on classroom practice, student progress, and lesson outcomes to improve teaching quality.
- Embed the school's Teacher and Learner DNA values, language, and expectations throughout the curriculum.
- Carry out wider professional duties as directed by the school and contribute to the wider life of the learning community.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
- Previous teaching experience in Cycle 2, Cycle 3, upper primary, middle school, or an American curriculum setting is preferred.
- Clear understanding of curriculum planning, classroom instruction, student assessment, and progress tracking.
- Ability to teach mixed‑ability learners using structured, creative, and inclusive teaching methods.
- Strong communication skills for working with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
- Professional approach to safeguarding, student wellbeing, behaviour management, and school policies.
- Confidence using assessment information to improve learning plans, classroom support, and intervention.
- Flexible and collaborative attitude toward teamwork, lesson planning, and school improvement.
- Ability to maintain high expectations while supporting student independence and personal development.
- Commitment to collaboration, leadership, creativity, and continuous improvement in education.
