Job summary

NH Collection Dubai The Palm is seeking a Commis 1 to support the culinary team in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes. You will work with the Chef de Partie and senior chefs to maintain consistency, hygiene, and presentation standards.

This role requires a passion for culinary excellence, ability to work in a fast-paced hotel kitchen, flexibility for shifts, weekends and holidays, and a willingness to learn and develop within Minor Hotels.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef, preferably in a hotel or premium restaurant.
• Culinary qualification or relevant professional training preferred.
• Strong teamwork and clear communication within a busy kitchen.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Passion for culinary excellence and willingness to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items according to approved recipes, portions and presentation standards.
• Ensure mise-en-place is ready before service.
• Support the Chef de Partie and senior chefs in the kitchen.
• Maintain consistent food quality, taste, freshness and presentation.
• Follow hygiene, HACCP and sanitation standards at all times.
• Manage storage, labeling, rotation and FIFO of food products.
• Minimize food waste and assist in maintaining stock levels.
• Keep workstation and equipment clean and organized.
• Report any equipment defects or shortages to the Chef de Partie.
• Assist other kitchen sections during busy periods.
