Job summary

Geisinger, a large healthcare system serving over 1 million people, seeks a Credentialing Specialist to coordinate procedures for physician and provider credentialing. You will conduct background investigations, review applications, and maintain confidential provider files in alignment with regulatory standards.

This role involves preparing monthly Credentialing Committee materials and maintaining provider databases for reporting and surveys.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Minimum 4 years related work experience in credentialing or healthcare operations.
• Proficient in credentialing procedures and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and oversees procedures and processes of the Provider Credentialing Program in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Conducts background investigations on physicians and other providers including licensure, education, and malpractice history
• Reviews and analyzes physician applications and credentialing documents
• Mantains tracking of all new providers drug screening, background checks, and clinical competency data
• Organizes and maintains physician files following confidentiality guidelines
• Prepares files monthly for Credentials Committee review
• Maintains provider database and extracts information for reports and surveys
