Job summary

Dubai Foundation for Women and Children in the United Arab Emirates seeks a qualified psychologist or counsellor to support victims of domestic violence and related cases. You will assess needs, conduct counselling sessions, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The role involves client guidance, individual and group work, and monitoring progress while ensuring adherence to international human rights conventions.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of psychological assessment and counselling approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client guidance.
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups in diverse settings.
  • Experience in stress and family counseling is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Consult reference material such as textbooks, manuals, and journals in order to identify symptoms, to make diagnoses, and to develop approaches to treatment
  • Counsel internal & external clients regarding problems such as stress and family situations, in order to modify behaviour and/or to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling or treatments, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, then modify plans and diagnoses as necessary
  • Observe individuals in group interactions or in other contexts to detect indications of mental deficiency, abnormal behaviour, or maladjustment.
