Job summary

Astra ProMed in Dubai is seeking a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon to join its specialized surgical team. The role focuses on diagnosing and treating diseases of the lungs, chest wall, mediastinum, and esophagus, with emphasis on high surgical standards and patient safety.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• Postgraduate specialization in Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Surgery with thoracic training.
• Board certification or fellowship in Thoracic Surgery.
• Valid DHA license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Experience meeting UAE PQR requirements for Consultant.
• Expertise in complex thoracic procedures and minimally invasive techniques.
• Strong surgical judgment and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of thoracic conditions.
• Perform lung resections, lobectomies, and pulmonary surgeries.
• Preoperative assessments and individualized plans.
• Perform VATS and robotic-assisted procedures where trained.
• Provide postoperative care and manage complications.
• Collaborate with pulmonologists, oncologists, anesthesiologists, and critical care specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and complex surgical case discussions.
• Manage thoracic surgical emergencies and chest trauma.
• Counsel patients and families about procedures, risks, outcomes, and recovery.
• Ensure DHA compliance, hospital policies, infection control, and safety.
• Maintain documentation and engage in audits and CPD.

We're Hiring | Consultant Thoracic Surgeon

Location: Dubai

Employment Type: Full-Time

A leading healthcare facility in Dubai is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Thoracic Surgeon to join its specialized surgical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and surgically managing diseases affecting the lungs, chest wall, mediastinum, esophagus, and other thoracic structures, ensuring high standards of surgical excellence, patient safety, and multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnose and manage a wide range of thoracic surgical conditions, including lung tumors, pleural diseases, mediastinal masses, and chest wall abnormalities.

2. Perform complex thoracic surgical procedures, including lung resections, lobectomies, and other pulmonary surgeries.

3. Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans.

4. Perform minimally invasive thoracic procedures, including Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) and robotic-assisted surgery, where appropriately trained and privileged.

5. Provide comprehensive postoperative care and manage surgical complications.

6. Collaborate with pulmonologists, oncologists, anesthesiologists, and critical care specialists.

7. Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and complex surgical case discussions.

8. Manage thoracic surgical emergencies and trauma-related chest injuries.

9. Counsel patients and families regarding surgical procedures, risks, expected outcomes, and recovery.

10. Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, hospital policies, infection control, and surgical safety standards.

11. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in clinical audits, research, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent recognized medical qualification.

• Recognized postgraduate specialization in Thoracic Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery with appropriate thoracic surgical training.

• Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification in Thoracic Surgery.

• Valid DHA License or Eligibility Letter, or eligibility to obtain one.

• Relevant post-specialization clinical experience meeting UAE PQR requirements for the Consultant title.

• Demonstrated expertise in complex thoracic surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques.

• Strong surgical judgment, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
