Job summary

Astra ProMed in Dubai seeks a Consultant General Surgeon to lead complex surgical cases in a high-standard facility. You will diagnose, plan, and execute elective and emergency procedures with a focus on laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques.

Join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care, supervising junior staff, and guiding perioperative management under DHA guidelines. UAE license eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Postgraduate qualification in General Surgery.
• Board certification or equivalent consultant-level qualification in General Surgery.
• Internationally recognized qualifications (American Board, UK CCT, etc.) preferred.
• 5–10 years of post-specialization experience.
• Proficiency in laparoscopic and emergency surgical procedures.
• DHA Consultant General Surgery license eligibility in Dubai.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of general surgical conditions.
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures.
• Conduct laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair).
• Manage GI, abdominal, hepatobiliary, and soft tissue surgeries.
• Preoperative assessments and diagnostic investigations.
• Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on findings.
• Provide postoperative care, monitor recovery, and manage complications.
• Respond to acute surgical emergencies.
• Interpret ultrasound, CT, MRI findings and related investigations.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure DHA regulations and infection control compliance.

We're Hiring | Consultant General Surgeon

Location: Dubai

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant General Surgeon to join a leading healthcare facility in Dubai, UAE.

The ideal candidate should possess extensive expertise in general surgical procedures, laparoscopic surgery, emergency surgery, and comprehensive surgical patient management. The role requires excellent surgical skills, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of general surgical conditions.
• Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures.
• Conduct laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repair.
• Manage gastrointestinal, abdominal, hepatobiliary, and soft tissue surgical conditions within authorized clinical privileges.
• Evaluate patients through comprehensive preoperative assessments and diagnostic investigations.
• Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines.
• Provide postoperative care, monitor recovery, and manage surgical complications.
• Respond to acute surgical emergencies, including abdominal emergencies, bowel obstruction, and gastrointestinal perforation.
• Interpret ultrasound, CT scans, MRI findings, and other relevant surgical investigations.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, gastroenterologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary surgical teams.
• Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, surgical safety protocols, infection control, and patient care standards.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification or residency training in General Surgery.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant-level qualification in General Surgery.
• American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European, or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred.
• Strong expertise in laparoscopic surgery, emergency surgical procedures, and complex general surgical management.
• Excellent surgical skills, clinical judgment, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Eligible for DHA Consultant General Surgery classification/license in Dubai, subject to applicable UAE PQR requirements.
