Role Overview

Provide advanced diagnosis, surgical planning, operative care, and long‑term management for patients with cleft lip and palate, craniofacial differences, oral and maxillofacial disorders, facial trauma, and reconstructive needs. Work in a multidisciplinary setting with ENT, plastic surgery, orthodontics, speech therapy, pediatrics, anesthesia, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage cleft lip and palate conditions in pediatric and adult patients, including initial assessment, surgical planning, staged treatment, and long‑term follow‑up.
• Perform advanced oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures involving the jaw, face, oral cavity, craniofacial structures, and related soft tissue or bone conditions.
• Manage congenital craniofacial conditions, facial trauma, deformities, reconstructive surgical needs, and complex maxillofacial presentations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and surgical strategies based on patient age, anatomy, functional needs, clinical risk, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
• Collaborate with ENT surgeons, plastic surgeons, orthodontists, speech therapists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Support integrated care pathways for patients requiring speech development support, dental alignment, airway assessment, feeding guidance, facial reconstruction, or staged surgical management.
• Provide expert consultation for complex facial trauma, congenital anomalies, reconstructive cases, and oral and maxillofacial surgical referrals.
• Ensure safe preoperative evaluation, informed consent, operative planning, intraoperative decision‑making, and postoperative recovery monitoring.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including consultation notes, operative reports, treatment plans, consent records, multidisciplinary decisions, and follow‑up instructions.
• Uphold high standards of patient safety, surgical quality, infection prevention, ethical practice, and evidence‑based clinical decision‑making.
• Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, case discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous medical education activities.
• Teach, mentor, and support junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied health staff involved in cleft, craniofacial, and OMF care.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, expected outcomes, and long‑term care needs.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree with recognized specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Fellowship, board certification, or equivalent recognized qualification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or a relevant surgical specialty.
• DOH License Eligibility or active DOH License preferred for Abu Dhabi‑based clinical service.
• Minimum 5 years of consultant‑level experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Strong expertise in cleft lip and palate management, craniofacial care, facial trauma, and reconstructive surgery.
• Proven ability to perform advanced OMF surgical procedures in a hospital or specialist surgical setting.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary cleft, craniofacial, pediatric, orthodontic, ENT, plastic surgery, and speech therapy teams.
• Strong surgical planning, diagnostic, decision‑making, documentation, and patient counselling skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to support patients and families through complex treatment journeys.
