The role combines complex pediatric orthopedic surgery with inpatient and outpatient consultations, emergency trauma management, rehabilitation planning, multidisciplinary case coordination, family education, and participation in clinical quality and academic activities.
The Consultant Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon will manage musculoskeletal conditions that can affect skeletal growth, mobility, alignment, physical development, and quality of life throughout childhood. Clinical responsibilities will include congenital abnormalities, fractures, spinal deformities, hip disorders, sports injuries, limb conditions, and neuromuscular orthopedic complications. Treatment decisions will consider the child 's age, growth potential, severity of deformity, functional limitations, and future developmental needs. The consultant will work with pediatricians, neurologists, rehabilitation physicians, radiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to create coordinated treatment and rehabilitation pathways.
The successful candidate will hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi together with Board Certification or Fellowship training in Orthopaedic Surgery and formal subspecialty training in Pediatric Orthopaedics. A valid DOH Consultant License or appropriate Eligibility Letter in Orthopaedic Surgery is required. Applicants should bring at least 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery gained within a tertiary-care, specialist children 's, or academic hospital. Strong expertise in pediatric trauma, congenital deformities, reconstructive surgery, limb correction, spinal conditions, and complex musculoskeletal disease is expected. Experience in pediatric spine surgery, advanced deformity correction, multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs, academic medicine, research publications, or clinical teaching will further strengthen suitability for the position.
