Job Overview

Title: Consultant Pediatric ENT - Otolaryngology

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage pediatric ENT disorders, including ear infections, hearing problems, tonsil and adenoid disease, sinus conditions, airway concerns, congenital abnormalities, and nasal obstruction.
• Perform pediatric ENT surgical procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, myringotomy, grommet insertion, endoscopic sinus surgery, and other interventions as needed.
• Provide specialist consultations and second opinions for complex pediatric ENT cases requiring advanced diagnostics or multidisciplinary decision-making.
• Assess children through clinical examination, endoscopic evaluation, diagnostic test review, imaging interpretation, and detailed family discussion.
• Interpret audiograms, CT scans, MRI results, and other investigations to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and nurses to deliver coordinated care.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, age, clinical severity, family concerns, surgical need, and long‑term functional outcomes.
• Provide pre‑operative evaluation, informed consent discussion, surgical preparation, post‑operative care, recovery monitoring, and follow‑up planning.
• Educate parents and caregivers on ENT diagnoses, treatment options, surgery expectations, medication use, hearing care, speech-related concerns, and long‑term follow‑up needs.
• Maintain accurate patient records, consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, discharge summaries, and follow‑up recommendations.
• Ensure all clinical work follows hospital policies, UAE healthcare regulations, infection control standards, patient safety requirements, and ethical medical practice.
• Participate in clinical audits, continuing medical education activities, departmental meetings, morbidity and mortality discussions, and service improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor junior doctors, medical students, and clinical staff when required.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree with recognized specialization in Otolaryngology.
• Fellowship or board certification in Pediatric ENT preferred.
• Western‑trained.
• Minimum 5 years of post‑specialization experience focused on pediatric ENT cases.
• Strong experience diagnosing and treating congenital and acquired ENT conditions in children.
• Proven ability to perform pediatric ENT surgical procedures, including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, and endoscopic sinus surgery.
• Valid or eligible UAE medical licensing for consultant‑level practice.
• Ability to interpret audiograms, CT scans, MRI results, and other ENT‑related diagnostics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to explain treatment plans clearly to children, parents, and caregivers.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
• Strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills with audiology, speech therapy, pediatrics, anesthesia, and radiology teams.
• Commitment to patient safety, ethical care, accurate documentation, clinical governance, and continuous medical education.
