Allocation Assist Middle East is seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Ophthalmology in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to lead clinical care for pediatric eye conditions. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma, and pediatric refractive errors.
  • Assess children with genetic, developmental, neurological, and congenital eye disorders.
  • Screen, diagnose, and coordinate treatment for retinopathy of prematurity.
  • Evaluate congenital eyelid abnormalities, lacrimal disorders, and pediatric ocular surface conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations using age‑appropriate visual assessment methods.
  • Conduct ocular alignment, motility, refraction, visual acuity, fundus, and anterior segment assessments.
  • Interpret ophthalmic imaging, diagnostic studies, visual function tests, and relevant laboratory findings.
  • Perform strabismus surgery, pediatric cataract surgery, and other procedures within approved clinical privileges.
  • Develop individualized surgical and non‑surgical treatment plans based on diagnosis, age, visual development, and family needs.
  • Manage emergency pediatric ophthalmic presentations, including trauma, acute visual loss, infection, and raised intraocular pressure.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Coordinate care with neonatologists, pediatricians, neurologists, geneticists, anesthesiologists, optometrists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams.
  • Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment choices, surgical risks, prognosis, and follow‑up requirements.
  • Educate families on patching therapy, corrective lenses, medication use, postoperative care, and visual rehabilitation.
  • Monitor long‑term visual development and treatment outcomes in children with chronic eye conditions.
  • Maintain complete consultation notes, operative reports, consent records, investigation findings, and follow‑up plans.
  • Comply with hospital policies, patient‑safety standards, and applicable UAE healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, quality improvement projects, and service‑development initiatives.
  • Teach junior physicians, residents, nurses, and other clinical professionals.
  • Contribute to clinical research, case reviews, continuing medical education, and professional conferences.
  • Remain current with advances in paediatric ophthalmology, microsurgery, imaging, and evidence‑based treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Profile

  • Significant consultant‑level experience in paediatric ophthalmology.
  • Proven medical and surgical expertise in childhood eye disorders.
  • Strong experience in strabismus surgery and pediatric cataract procedures.
  • Competence in treating congenital glaucoma, amblyopia, refractive disorders, and retinopathy of prematurity.
  • Ability to use pediatric ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic technologies.
  • Strong clinical judgment when managing emergency and complex ophthalmic cases.
  • Excellent communication and family‑counseling skills.
