Role Context

The Consultant - Internal Medicine will provide comprehensive medical care for adults presenting with routine, complex, and undifferentiated health conditions. The position requires advanced diagnostic reasoning and the ability to manage patients with multiple comorbidities while coordinating care across medical and surgical specialties. Through evidence-based treatment, preventive strategies, clinical leadership, and careful follow-up, the consultant will contribute directly to patient safety, continuity of care, and improved clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct consultant-level clinical assessments, establish diagnoses, formulate treatment plans, and provide ongoing follow-up for adult patients.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, infectious diseases, and endocrine disorders.
• Assess and treat renal and electrolyte abnormalities, hematological conditions, rheumatological diseases, autoimmune disorders, and other multisystem presentations.
• Evaluate complex or undifferentiated symptoms using clinical examination, diagnostic investigations, medical history, and evidence-based decision-making.
• Develop individualized management strategies for patients with multiple or interacting comorbidities.
• Deliver inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine services according to clinical requirements and continuity-of-care needs.
• Monitor response to medication and other interventions, adjusting treatment plans when clinical findings or patient circumstances change.
• Coordinate referrals to relevant subspecialists and work closely with multidisciplinary medical and surgical teams.
• Perform pre-operative medical assessments, identify clinical risks, and support optimization of patients before surgery when required.
• Promote preventive healthcare through appropriate screening, risk-factor management, patient education, and early intervention.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely clinical records covering assessment, diagnosis, treatment decisions, medication, referrals, and follow-up.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews, clinical governance activities, audits, quality improvement initiatives, research, and continuing medical education.
• Support residents and junior medical professionals through clinical supervision, teaching, mentoring, and case-based guidance.
• Uphold professional ethics, patient-centred practice, evidence-based medicine, and rigorous standards of clinical safety.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS, MD, MBChB, or an equivalent recognized medical qualification.
• American Board Certification in Internal Medicine is mandatory.
• Valid UAE professional license or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license for medical practice in Dubai.
• Good professional standing with the relevant medical licensing authority.
• Established consultant-level experience in Internal Medicine.
• Strong background in managing adults with complicated medical presentations and multiple chronic diseases.
• Previous work within a tertiary-care hospital, multispecialty hospital, or established medical centre is preferred.
• Excellent diagnostic reasoning with confidence managing both acute and long‑term medical conditions.
