Consultant Hematology Oncologist – Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Full‑time – 3‑5 years post‑board or fellowship experience. Salary: 75,000 – 100,000 AED (estimated).
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with benign and malignant hematological conditions including anemia, coagulation disorders, leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, and other blood‑related diseases.
- Assess and treat patients with solid tumors using evidence‑based oncology protocols, international treatment guidelines, and individualized clinical judgment.
- Develop personalized treatment plans that may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care, symptom control, survivorship planning, and palliative care when appropriate.
- Interpret diagnostic investigations including bone marrow biopsies, pathology reports, molecular testing, genetic findings, laboratory results, imaging studies, and staging information.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborate with surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, pharmacists, nurses, and other specialists.
- Monitor treatment response, review toxicity, manage complications, adjust therapy when required, and guide patients through different stages of cancer treatment.
- Support hematology oncology service development through clinical pathways, treatment protocols, regulatory readiness, accreditation work, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to patient safety, clinical governance, departmental audits, evidence‑based practice programs, and continuous improvement of oncology care delivery.
- Provide teaching, supervision, and mentorship to junior physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals involved in hematology oncology services.
- Engage in continuing medical education activities, departmental educational sessions, case discussions, and awareness of advances in hematology and oncology care.
- Participate in clinical research, audits, publications, presentations, and clinical trials where applicable.
- Stay updated with emerging therapies, precision medicine, molecular oncology, advanced therapeutics, and international hematology oncology guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, treatment records, consent notes, chemotherapy plans, follow‑up instructions, and compliance with hospital policies.
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognised institution.
- Completion of accredited specialty training in Internal Medicine.
- Fellowship, subspecialty training, or equivalent advanced qualification in Hematology Oncology.
- Board certification in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or Hematology‑Oncology recognised by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi.
- Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure is required for the actual work location.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of post‑board or fellowship experience as a Consultant Hematology Oncologist.
- Strong clinical expertise in hematological malignancies, benign blood disorders, solid tumors, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive oncology care.
- Experience in tertiary care hospitals, comprehensive cancer centres, or academic medical institutions is preferred.
- Experience with stem cell transplantation programmes is desirable.
- Participation in clinical trials, oncology research, academic work, audits, or publications is an advantage.
- Knowledge of precision medicine, molecular oncology, genomic testing, and advanced cancer therapeutics is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, patient counselling, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with empathy, clarity, resilience, and strong clinical discipline.
