Role Context This consultant appointment provides comprehensive care for patients with life‑threatening respiratory, cardiovascular, infectious, traumatic, neurological, and multi‑organ conditions. The physician will assess rapidly changing clinical findings, establish priorities, initiate organ support, and coordinate treatment throughout the patient 's ICU admission. The role combines direct critical care, procedural intervention, emergency response, team leadership, family communication, and clinical governance. Close collaboration with emergency physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists will support timely decisions and stronger patient outcomes.
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution. Board certification, fellowship training, or an equivalent recognized qualification is required in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, or Anesthesia Critical Care. Candidates should have at least five to seven years of post-board consultant experience in critical care medicine within a tertiary‑care or academic hospital. Strong expertise in mechanical ventilation, sepsis management, advanced airway care, invasive monitoring, emergency stabilization, and complex ICU procedures is essential. Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is required. Current ACLS certification and other recognized advanced critical care credentials are preferred. Experience in high‑acuity multidisciplinary ICUs, ECMO, continuous renal replacement therapy, bronchoscopy, bedside ultrasound, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring would strengthen an application. The successful consultant will demonstrate confident leadership, rapid clinical decision‑making, compassionate communication, procedural competence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced multicultural environment.
