Job summary

Allocation Assist Middle East seeks a Consultant Burns Surgeon to join our specialist clinical team in Abu Dhabi. You will provide comprehensive surgical and medical management of acute and complex burn injuries, including assessment, resuscitation, operative treatment, wound care and rehabilitation.

The role requires medical degree with postgraduate training in General/Plastic Surgery, board certification, and a DoH Abu Dhabi license/eligibility.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Postgraduate training in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery or another relevant surgical specialty.
• Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in the relevant specialty.
• Fellowship or advanced training in Burns Surgery/Burn Care is highly desirable. DoH Abu Dhabi license/eligibility.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Burns Surgeon to join our specialist clinical team in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical and medical management of patients with acute and complex burn injuries, including assessment, resuscitation, operative treatment, wound management, reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with acute and complex burns. Manage thermal, chemical, electrical and other burn injuries. Assess burn depth, extent and severity and develop individualized treatment plans. Lead multidisciplinary management of major burn injuries. Perform appropriate burn surgery, including:Escharotomy and fasciotomy where indicated Burn wound excision and debridement Tangential excision Skin grafting and wound coverage Management of complex burn wounds Reconstructive procedures for burn sequelae Manage acute burn resuscitation and critical care in collaboration with ICU teams. Provide comprehensive wound care and infection prevention/management. Manage complications including sepsis, contractures, hypertrophic scarring and functional impairment. Participate in burn theatre lists, emergency services and on-call coverage. Coordinate rehabilitation and long-term management of burn survivors. Collaborate with Plastic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Intensive Care, Anesthesiology, Infectious Diseases, Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and other multidisciplinary teams. Participate in multidisciplinary burn rounds and case conferences. Develop and implement burn management protocols, clinical pathways and quality improvement initiatives. Participate in teaching, training and supervision of residents, fellows and junior medical staff. Contribute to clinical research, audits and service development. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.

Qualifications

Medical degree from a recognized medical school. Completed recognized postgraduate training in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery or another relevant surgical specialty. Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in the relevant specialty. Fellowship or advanced formal training in Burns Surgery/Burn Care is highly desirable. Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility in the appropriate specialty.

Required Experience

Significant post-specialist experience managing major and complex burn injuries. Demonstrated experience in acute burn surgery and operative burn management. Experience with burn wound excision, debridement and skin grafting. Experience managing critically ill burn patients. Experience in a dedicated burn center or major trauma center is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

Fellowship training in Burns Surgery / Burn Care. Experience managing extensive burns and complex reconstructive cases. Experience with pediatric burns is an advantage. Experience with inhalation injury and multidisciplinary burn critical care. Experience in burn reconstruction, scar management and contracture release. Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is desirable.

Licensing

Valid DoH Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant surgical specialty is required.
