Job summary

SEHA - Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. seeks a Consultant in Plastic Surgery for the Burn unit to lead clinical and administrative duties in a high-volume hospital setting.

The role includes supervising junior staff, ensuring adequate coverage, and aligning practices with SEHA policies. The position requires a Medical Degree with specialization in Plastic Surgery, board certification, and a minimum of 5 years post-specialization burn experience, plus a valid DOH license or eligibility; JCI

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialization in Plastic Surgery.
• American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, any Western Board, Fellowship or additional certification in Plastic Surgery.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience in Plastic Surgery in Burn unit.
• Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) License or eligibility.
• Experience working within JCI-accredited hospitals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
• Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
• Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times.
• Attends Divisional meetings as required.
• Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate.
• Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief.
• Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.
• Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide.
• Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
• Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources.
• Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
• Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
• Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
• Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
• Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients.
• Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent.
• Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals.
• Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies.
• Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frame.

Education

Qualification from Tier 1

c. Current national license or equivalent

d. Certified proof of yearly CME
