Job summary

NMC Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi is seeking a pathologist to lead the pathology department, supervise laboratory teams, and ensure QA and regulatory compliance. The role requires MD-Pathology, licensure, and several years of management experience.

The successful candidate will oversee multiple lab disciplines, implement safety protocols, and participate in professional development programs. Excellent English is essential; Arabic desirable.

Qualifications

• MD-Pathology with internship and residency completed.
• Current licensure in country of origin and HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in managing all laboratory tests across ages.
• Excellent command of English; Arabic language desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct activities of the pathology department at NMC Royal Hospital—Khalifa City.
• Organize laboratory department work and train technicians and phlebotomists.
• Perform quality control per HAAD requirements and ensure safety protocols.
• Analyze and report results across biochemistry, pathology, hematology and more.
• Liaise with HAAD and other regulatory bodies; participate in CME programs.

Job description

Diagnose diseases from body tissue fluids secretions and other specimens using laboratory procedures

Act as consultant to other medical practitioners

Direct activities of pathology department in NMC Royal Hospital- Khalifa City

Perform professional duties in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the credential committee

Organize the work of the Laboratory Department

Train laboratory technicians phlebotomists to improve performance and maintain professional standards

Perform and maintain quality control procedures per HAAD requirements

Analyze interpret and report clinical biochemistry clinical pathology hematology immunology histopathology cytopathology lab transfusion practices and other laboratory tests in accordance with professional standards and health regulatory guidelines

Implement laboratory safety protocols to provide a safe work environment for staff and patients

Liaise with health regulatory authorities such as HAAD ministry blood transfusion services and reference laboratories

Participate in in-house CME programs and CME programs in other hospitals for continued professional development

Play a key role in the hospital infection control committee and assist in preparation and maintenance of the infection control manual

Work with committees to develop policies and procedures to promote quality health care

Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information and administrative matters

Demonstrate dependability in carrying out commitments and obligations

Develop understanding of hospital policies and procedures and demonstrate respect for them

Perform other duties as assigned by the HOD and Medical Director

Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; Post graduate degree (MD-Pathology).

At least three (3) years of experience the management of all types of laboratory test & techniques in all type & ages of patients.

Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.

Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.

Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
