Job summary

SLS Dubai Hotel and Residences invites applications for a Commis 2 to support daily kitchen operations and food preparation in a luxury setting. You will assist chefs, maintain mise en place, and help ensure high standards of taste, portion control, and presentation while upholding hygiene and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized culinary school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations.
• Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, standards, and instructions.
• Carry out mise en place and ensure ingredients are prepared and ready for service.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, portion size, and presentation.
• Assist with restaurant, buffet, banquet, and other kitchen operations as required.
• Monitor food preparation during service and ensure orders are completed efficiently and on time.
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures.
• Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Keep the workstation, kitchen equipment, and preparation areas clean and organized.
• Assist with stock control and inform Chef de Partie of shortages or replenishment needs.
• Minimize food wastage through proper preparation, storage, and portion control.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults or maintenance needs.
• Assist with cleaning and closing duties at end of shift.
• Support Commis 2 team members when required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.

• Previous experience as a Commis 2 or in a similar kitchen role is an advantage.
• Good command of English and effective communication skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently when required and support senior chefs during service.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
