Sommerman Skinner Associates (SSA Limited) is recruiting a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial department across major roads and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. You will oversee contract administration, cost control, valuations, and risk management, ensuring project profitability and compliance with FIDIC-based contracts.

The role requires extensive UAE infrastructure experience, leadership of commercial teams, and fluency in English.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering; UK/Australian/South African qualifications preferred.
• MRICS or similar professional qualifications highly desirable.
• 5–10 years' infrastructure construction experience, preferably roads/bridges.
• Prior UAE experience essential; overseas candidates considered if willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi.
• Proven experience leading commercial teams with strong contract administration, FIDIC, cost control and claims.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

About the Company:

Our client is an established Tier 1 Civil & Infrastructure Contractor with a strong track record of delivering major roads and bridges projects across the UAE. They are looking to appoint a Contracts / Commercial Manager to manage their commercial team and oversee contractual and commercial matters across their projects in Abu Dhabi.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will manage the commercial department, providing leadership and commercial oversight across major construction projects. Working closely with project directors and senior management, they will be responsible for protecting project profitability, managing contractual risks and ensuring effective commercial performance throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Commercial Management & Leadership: Manage the commercial department, leading and developing the commercial team while overseeing project financial performance and commercial operations.
• Contract Administration: Oversee the review, negotiation and administration of main contracts and subcontracts, ensuring contractual obligations are managed effectively in accordance with relevant contract conditions.
• Cost Control & Reporting: Manage project budgets, cash flow, cost forecasting, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reporting, monitoring financial performance and project profitability.
• Valuations & Payments: Oversee interim valuations, payment applications, payment certificates and final accounts, ensuring accurate and timely commercial assessments.
• Variations & Claims: Manage the preparation, assessment and negotiation of variations, extensions of time (EOT), prolongation costs and contractual claims.
• Subcontractor Management: Oversee subcontractor procurement, commercial negotiations, payment assessments and final account agreements.
• Commercial Risk & Stakeholder Management: Identify and manage contractual and commercial risks, working closely with project directors, engineering teams, clients, consultants and senior management.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, with UK, Australian or South African qualifications preferred.
• MRICS or other relevant professional qualifications are highly desirable.
• 5–10 years' relevant experience in infrastructure construction, preferably on major roads and bridges projects.
• Previous UAE experience is essential. Candidates currently working overseas will be considered if willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi.
• Proven experience managing commercial teams, with strong knowledge of contract administration, FIDIC, cost control and claims.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken, is essential.
