Job summary

NMC in Dubai seeks a licensed Clinical Psychologist to assist psychiatrists by providing assessment, therapy, and preventive mental health services for inpatients and outpatients.

The candidate conducts interviews, administers psychometric tests, offers individual, group and family therapies, and participates in research and community welfare activities, with after-hours availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized college or university.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in clinical psychology.
• Knowledge of medical ethics and patient confidentiality.
• Experience with intelligence, achievement, personality tests and other psychological measures.
• Current licensure in country of origin and DOH license to practice in Dubai.
• Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is desirable.

Responsibilities

Job description

Participates in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness. Serves as a professional assistant to Psychiatrists who provide psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses; and engages in preventive care as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine.

Responsibilities:

1. Conducts psychiatric interviews and collects data for diagnostic purposes.

2. Provides various psychotherapies, including individual, group and family therapies.

3. Offers counseling for couples with marital conflicts.

4. Uses behavioral methods for the treatment of children and adults and plans the frequency, intensity and duration of therapy.

5. Performs psychometric (mental measuring) testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.

6. Engages in research and educational activities that will improve methods and techniques for the management of emotionally disturbed patients.

7. Keeps current with ideas in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders to assist in the planning of mental health progress.

8. Provides advice to community organizations and participates in related psychological and welfare activities.

9. Takes after hours or weekend calls as required by specific cases or in emergency situations as requested.

10. Performs related duties as assigned by the Chief Psychiatrist.

Qualifications:

1. Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized college or university.
2. At least with 2 years' experience in the field of clinical psychology.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of medical ethics with regard to the obligation to maintain work confidentiality.
4. Working knowledge of intelligence, achievement, interest, personality and other psychological tests and measuring devices.
5. Current licensure in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
6. Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
7. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
